"Looks kinda big to be new." LOL, believe me, we all shake our heads wondering why Chicago spends so much money planting such big specimens when we all know it doesn't really make much sense from a transplanting perspective. This is a fairly high profile location, so I think they are so concerned about maintaining appearances they throw common sense (and our tax dollars) out the window, and they also claim they need bigger trees to start so that kids don't damage them (which is possible, unfortunately). and if you think this is a crazy size for a new B&B tree, they planted 30+ foot gingko columnars in front of the Field Museum, it made my wallet hurt just looking at the heavy machinery needed to put them in the ground. The park district forester told me it's very possible it had the borers when it was planted last year, so hopefully they will either drop the nursery from their suppliers or will really make them shape up. They've planted probably hundreds of trees in the downtown area, and most do survive, so I'd imagine this was just a fluke.

Contrary to a lot you'll read, the worms don't need nearly as much water as we are told. If you dig into the bins, you'll find the moisture content down deep much more wet than above. If my bins leak even a little water, I consider them to be too moist. Also, when I add water, I only sprinkle a LITTLE bit on the bedding. Leaving the lid off for awhile is the way to dry one out. I usually leave the frozen food out for a few hours to drain the moisture...unless it's summer when the ice is a welcome thing...I guess. You ain't doing nothing wrong. Chuckiebtoo

Beverly, You have my sympathies, my dear. Nothing is worse than when our machines decide to be a little rebellious. Last night I was (finally) taking in the waist of my middle daughter's jeans, just like she asked. All was going pretty well, and then it happened. Heard that familiar "chugging" in the bobbin/shuttle area. Sure enough, when I finished my little 1-1/2" long seam, there was a rat's nest of threads on the underside of what I was sewing. Bah! Of course, it was such a tight repair that it was literally impossible to remove the stitching, so it's been left in. Told the machine, "okay, you win. Now Rayechel will notice that you were working on her pants, too. Are you happy now?" Then I got up and walked away with a smile. Today, went back to the "beast", told it we were going to make some quilt blocks together, changed the bobbin and all is well. Dontcha just love it when the machines realize who the boss is? Just like a petulant child, they sometimes just need to be reminded that although they are important to us, we still provide them with a home, adn we feed them lovely fabrics and exciting threads. We take good care of them and they will eventually come around. Just remember, tomorrow is another perfect day to sew. Remind your machine! And good luck.

We are having lots of fun with the metal tile that seems to add so much warmth and visual interest. Thank you for all the kind cheers. I was looking back at earlier threads, and seeing how we all anticipate demolition day, getting all excited, and then play waiting & glitch intervention games. It's nice to hear how things are moving along during some of the more tedious phases. When I read about GC or countertop install issues...do I ever get it now about the trauma involved in those challenges! We've had a few - wood floor near catastrophy - but the pain is long forgotten once resolved.

Peati always looks so sad when I put on her jackets but after a few minutes she walks around showing them off. She is the queen!

Bless his little heart, he doesn't know what it's for. Reminds me of when I would put a sweater on Charlie years ago and he was so embarrassed, it wasn't worth looking at his pitiful face so I gave it up. :o)

Poor Conway looks completely mortified. We have a friend who has a pug and she bought it a leather bomber jacket. You just had to laugh, but that pug thought he was top dog in that jacket.

My dog Molly loves wearing her two sweat shirts. We put one on her when it gets cold,it's gonna be 14 tonight. Time for Molly's sweater!

Pawle has grown so much she can't wear any of her old sweaters. She has one of Sammies hand-me-downs. But, he can't stand to see her wear it.

I looked at this yesterday and I felt so sorry for him. He looks so pitiful. I am looking at it now and still feeling so sorry for him, but I just can't help laughing. Do what mammie said. Take that off him right now so I can do something besides sit here and laugh. LOLOLOL!!!!!!
