Anyone Make Any New Years Resolutions??

I of course have in the past and never kept them~~then I said to myself OK only '5' LOL still did not do that either.
This year I am doing '1'. I have a very hard time not passing up a sale on clothing~~my closet of course gets pack with things, still with the labels on. Sometimes I even look at the stuff and say 'what was I thinking'.

I got several gift cards for Christmas and have 2 fifty dollar bills leftover from my Thanksgiving vacation, I did not spend so that is all I can spend on clothing/shoes/purses this year. It adds up to about $450, limits me to Kohl's, Macy's and Nordstroms and I will not be able to use any percent off coupons with the GC's. (that part will kill me~I love a deal:)

So here we go~~~Let's see if YogaLady can do this!!

Jackie who is looking at a pair of really cute Dansko Clogs on Amazon today~~~I wonder if I ask DH to buy them for me if that is breaking the resolution?? What are the real rules of this game???

None made, none to keep, of course all spending has come to a halt due to possible taxes being imposed.

I don't make any - with my memory, I'd forget them as soon as I made them.

Eduarda do plant a winter jasmine I think you will really enjoy it, this is a bit long winded but....I also grow winter jasmine, mine is quite old somewhere around 40 years. Not only a beautiful plant when covered in flowers but is also very attractive when in the green, so to speak. It is tough and reliable, depending on the weather it can start blooming in November and continue on through the winter or if it's a really cold and stays cold I've seen it hold off on flowering till the beginning of March. The year it did this it put on a magnificent show. My or I should say taken ownership of W.J. is growing on a trellis on the side of the neighbor's carport, why on the neighbor's carport you might ask, well my neighbor at the time planted it on her carport but it's planted in our driveway. Years later after their place had been sold several times another survey was done and what do you know the carport encroaches 8 inches onto our property as does the concrete retaining wall. The poor lady who owned the house at the time had just sold to a young couple and the whole deal was going to fall through, we went to her lawyer with her and signed a waver to the effect the new owners could have access to our driveway if they need to work on their concrete carport. I've also claimed my side of their concrete retaining wall (on our property too) I've covered it in ivy, clematis and other stuff. This is now the wall that helps contains my little courtyard, use to be the top end of the driveway but that's another story :o). I prune the jasmine right back to stubs every spring and I'm rewarded with fresh green growth by summer which is lovely to look at even when not in bloom. Annette

I don't do resolutions, but wanted to comment on the massage. You are so right in that it can be a necessity! I have had two times where I ended up in physical therapy - once lower back, once neck/shoulder area. PT really helped but was somewhat time consuming - several weeks of mutiple appointments. I noticed the massage really seemed to relax my muscles so earlier this year when I was again having an issue, I started massage. As long as I do that and exercises on my own - the issue is resolved. I get these incredibly tightened muscles/knots. Usually it is associated with my job and changing my work station or chair or position, etc. I've also become aware of my posture and work on not slumping or slouching when I'm sitting and really engrossed in a project. Besides helping with the knotted/tight muscles, the massage is so relaxing and you come out feeling like melted butter HA! I would think it will help greatly with stress. Enjoy!

I understand that, Lily. Eating sugar caused the stress in my life. I ate sugar in place of real food so I wouldn’t gain so much weight. I ate it when I was happy, sad, bored, tired, stressed and when my brain needed a fix. I became unhappy, cranky, tired, and totally controlled by it. Sugar and what form I would eat that day became my first thought in the morning. It really took over my life. I wanted to quit and tried every day, but just couldn’t do it. I asked God to help me and He did. The first two weeks were the worst. The cravings were intense and I drank a lot of hot water to help relieve them. After that, it was better. I started exercising after that... 25 minutes a day on my Tony Little glider helped a lot. After two months, the cravings were gone completely. Now, I never think about sugar at all. If I eat honey or syrup, it starts up again, so I don’t use those or artificial sweeteners. I wish I could express how wonderful it feels to get up in the morning sugar free. It’s like every day is fresh and new and I am happy. I hope you can find your way to that, too. Rebecca

Usually its get more organized or exercise more-this year is something new. DH keeps complaining I leave my shoes right in the doorway from the garage to the house. He is always tripping over them. No excuse with a shoe rack right there! I kick my shoes off on the way inside and I am guilty as charged. So my resolution is to keep them out of the door way-preferably on the shoe rack. So far so good!

Jackie-amazon is OUT unless you can swap out the money you need to spend. If DH needs a $30 pair of jeans at Kohls and you use your GC,, then you can spend $30 on amazon-no cheating-he has to ask for an item, you can't just pick him up something he 'needs!!! OPTION #2-sells some things (maybe clothes with tags in your closet) on craigslist, ebay, or a garage sale and use the proceeds any way you wish!

Lisa~~~You are so smart~~~so I can trade one of my GC's with DH for cash to get my Amazon shoes?? But, only if he wants to make the deal no trickery?? HMMM I am going on Nordstrom.Com to see if maybe they have the shoes, they sell that brand:)

But I need to be careful, not to spend it all too fast eh??

Good idea with the shoes~~~I think just one resolution is doable~~

a great site. No resolution here--I always say....
I don't make mistakes, so I don't have to improve!!

I made the same one I make (and keep!) every year--NOT to make any NY resolutions.

I am curious, though--why can't you use coupons with a gift certificate? You can always use coupons/discounts at the stores I shop at, even when paying with a gc.
