Here's mine:

1. paint all of the baseboards and doors in the house - Boring!

2. Completely retile my bathroom.

3. To get the very last of the carpet out of the house. That could actually happen today, my husband was clearing out his office last night.

I did pretty good with my resolutions last year - I organized most of my cabinets in the house, cleared out the junk and took back a lot of storage space that wasn't being used very well.

Do a pink bedroom very subtle but glamourous.

We're having our walkin closet done,new storage and drawers,new hamper, I asked them to put the soft close hinges on the door and drawer hinges, so that they close by themselves,no banging. We should have them in by the end of January. Here's some pictures that I took at the show room of what we're getting. Finish the master suite remodel for Pete's sake -- it's been years!;
do DD's bathroom;
redo all the trim and the stair rails;
plant a good functional garden and make use of what we grow.

I still haven't unpacked a lot of stuff and I moved here in 7/07.

Actually, I'm dreaming of another house down the street so maybe it's better not to unpack :-D

Parma, you're so funny. That will be me in Jan 2010, still unpacking. LOL Actually, I'll be buying, buying, buying and refinishing, refinishing, refinishing. My projects are also piling up and I need to get to them. LOL Once I buy my new knees in 2009 then I might be able to get some of these other projects taken care of.

The kitchen! We have some painting and prettying up to do, but the kitchen is the thing.

Starting on the victorian (we need to buy it first LOL)

Finish the lake house and finally do the magazine shoot (they will eventually quit asking if we never finish)

And finish or sell the rental house.

Somewhere in there we'd like to have a set of twins and move DS to his bedroom...but we'll squeeze it in somehow :oP

Igloo: good luck on getting that set of twins. My g/f was on infertility drugs treatment for 2-3 years and the minute she got off the treatments, she got pregnant. She's due having a baby girl this feb. Same thing happened to SIL. She gave up trying & got no 2, 10 years after no 1.

At least your babymaking project would be fun to do. LOL ;-D

I'm dreaming of an outside decorating project ~ having part of our backyard walled in and landscaped with big abobe planters filled with patio trees and flowers
. . . if the economy doesn't totally tank, that is! I need an adobe wall high enough to keep the coyotes and rabbits out, but not block our gorgeous views and I want SHADE and lots of it! I gave up on finding a landscape architect with any vision, as every one I interviewed (9 total) came back with basically the same darn, uninspired design and for the same ridiculous price of $30-grand! So, I've drawn up the layout myself (did I ever mention that I'm a Master Gardener and used to be the editor of a gardening news mag?). Now I just need to hire the people to build it for me . . . (sigh) if the economy stops it's downward spiral in the next few of months. I'm really starting to worry it won't happen :~ (

I thought of another one.

Stop procrastinating. We finally put up the master bedroom drapes, yesterday. DH asked why I bought so many rings. I said they were the right amount for 8 panels. He could only find six of them. I searched the house high and low for the missing two and thought I was going nuts. Found the order form and, yes, I bought eight. Only thing I can think of is that the last two got thrown out in the packing box.

I have all of my drapes hung, but some of them reallly need to be shortened.

Lynn, your backyard is going to be awesome! I'm all for keeping the coyote's out of the yard!

Learn to decide faster and then just DO it.
Stop starting a new project because itÂs more fun than finishing the piddly little details from the last one.

I still havenÂt made up my mind on the wood trim color for the kitchen I renovated 4 years ago, for heavenÂs sake. IÂm fed up with me.

I need a "get it finished" buddy like some people need a dieting buddy. Someone to hold me responsible.

I thought of another one, too: find a new comforter and bedskirt for our MBR in cream. One that's NOT a Full/Queen, but just a Queen. I'm so darn tired of F/Q comforters that aren't long enough!What do they make them like that?!? Maybe I should look for a bedspread instead. I think they're starting to come back in style.

I am taking a course on Interior Design so I will be able to decorate with confidence this year! I just signed up - starts in February. I'll share what I learn! I have wanted to do this for a long time - this is my year!

I'm going to clear out my decorating "from guilt" items. I hope my departed relatives won't haunt me for getting rid of stuff I just can't, or shouldn't, use in my home.

I know there's somebody out there that will give those things a good home.

1 why do I have this
2 is there something I have or prefer in its place
3 could anyone take better care or need it more than us
4 in the next 10 years why would this be useful to keep
5 if I die next week, will it be another item of value or junk for some one to be bothered with

I would like to get a new quilt for my master bedroom which has been the same since I had it painted this spring. I did order a chair and it has a pattern that has similar colors to EK Cognac and a nice rich blue so my mission is to find a quilt to pull the blue out.

The next thing would be to find new lamps for my living room/dining room combo. I have that nice crystal chandelier and I think I need to get some crystal lamps. The lamps in there are brass and very old - same with the ones in the family room.

Oh and I need a picture for my dining room too.

That's about it for now. Maybe next year we will finish the rest of the basement.

Finish the LR! This means...

* buy/install new a/v system
* buy file storage
* strip/refinish the pocket doors
* build the other two under-window storage units
* weatherstrip/fill cracks
* buy/install new finials, rehang curtains

Yikes, I'm overwhelmed just thinking about all this...

EXACTLY!!

I have so many half-baked ideas floating around in my head, its a wonder anything ever actually gets done. But we are on a roll so far this year, because we got the new light hung in the DR today. Woohoo! Let's hope this is not our swan song for the year. On the drawing board:

1) Total kitchen redo (I already have my plan done for IKEA cabs. I think we have the granite and backsplash decided, and the sink, faucet and range hood are sitting in the barn waiting to start. We cheated and went ahead and installed the new DW two months ago. We have had the money set aside for a long time but I got laid off in September. If I get a job offer I really want next week, we'll get onto this one right away).

2) Finish putting cork everywhere there is currently carpet (we did one small bedroom Labor Day weekend and haven't had the gumption to deal with the disruption necessary to move on to other, more often used rooms).

3) Run power down the driveway to the gate so we can have a light down there and eventually upgrade to an electric gate. Would love to put in some landscape lighting on the drive (uplights/downlights in trees) while we're running the power through there.

4) Maybe do the big landscaping plan we had drawn up in the fall. (We were set to break ground and my gut told me to call it off. I got laid off two weeks later).

5) Get organized enough to have a great antique/yard/moving sale in the spring. A by-product of this will be a trip to the charity and to the dump. Woohoo!

6) Think about changing the beds in the MBR and the guest room to fit the more modern home. But I don't know about all those LOW modern beds . . . more thinking required.

I'm also determined to remodel my kitchen this year.

I think 60 years is long enough don't you?! Yep, my kitchen still contains the original cabinets, tile backsplash, countertop and sink that were installed new in 1950. This is my last major project; both bathrooms have been gutted and remodeled, my son's bedroom has the last of the nasty wall-to-wall carpet (and he's GOING to finish the changeover to wood floors in there next week), so it is time to get a decent kitchen. I've lived with this one for 20 years. It's time.

I'd like to add one. I want to put up the crown molding in my dining room. We've been in our house for over 2 years now and still haven't gotten around to it. Of course we were in our last house for almost 20 years and it never got done there either. I don't want that to happen again.

I also want to finishing some de-cluttering projects. I love "re-homing" items -- it's a great feeling. I have some incentive to tackle these things soon because by spring I want to focus on my outdoor projects. (Roll on spring!)
