I tried some, of that Eco Responsible dish washing detergent from SAMS. Maybe a third of the pouch... $%#*%*&*(#%)

in my dishwasher!

Last time I was a SAMS, I got a sample of liquid dishwashing detergent. It says, contains dish soap for one load.

But I thought it was a bit much, and only used about 1/3.

Welllllll it wasn't for the dishwasher! Made a fine mess all over, and am still trying to get all the foam out. LOL

Now I checked, and on the back it says:

Do not use in automatic dishwashers.

Sorry this happened to you. I once mistakely put dishwashIng liquid in my dishwasher-it started to chug and the motor was laboring,I dared to open it and out poured suds like crazy.

Beth.......... You have my greatest sympathies. Gardening on multiple levels has felt totally impossible from the beginning. When I am working on one level, the weeds are thriving on the other levels. Argggggggh. Hauling mulch up from the street level to the gardening levels is hard labor, too. I thought it was my time management that was the problem. The problem is that it is incredibly difficult for one person to manage all of that work. Then add the heat we both experience and it just gets overwhelming. I did check with the lady who runs our local garden center and she did say that Preen will not harm the roses. I may not like using chemicals to control weeds, but I have had to give up and use some. You have so many beautiful roses, I know this must be very distressing for you. lianne, Looks like you have a blank slate for landscape. I'll be right over. This is where the duck house and pond should go. Over here your forest garden. Fruits, veggies, ect. Put up some fencing, pigs / goats. Looks like a peaceful place. Good luck Have fun Eric

"I called an HVAC friend, and he told me to open the door, hold the switch manually, and see if that works. That time the system turned on and stayed on perfectly fine. He said it sounds like there is something that's restricting air flow and a limiter switch is engaging to prevent overheating..." I think your HVAC friend has a good lead as to what to investigate. Perhaps the door was originally not seated properly and was allowing just enough air so the limit switch did not trip. But when you took the door off and closed it again, you may have made a tighter seal and that little bit of air is no longer reaching the burner. It is an old furnace so anything is possible.

Would vinegar help clean out the mess? Run a cycle with a cup of vinegar in the machine?

I once went out to the kitchen after my tween (at the time) daughter had loaded the dishwasher. She couldn't find the dw powder so she FILLED the cup with liquid dish detergent. I had suds all over the kitchen. Looked like one of those old 50's comedies.

Believe me, I can totally empathize with you. If you've got it cleaned up, it's time to sit down, put your feet up and have a glass of something! Of course your story is worse than mine--I at least had a scapegoat!

When you have a glass of something, check for soap residue on the glass first! :)

Now Jannie... Has your dumb husband ever poured soap suds all over the floor from not reading the manual on his toys??? :D

Moni, I can easily understand how your situation happened. It makes sense and yes, it's funny too. A new item and you thought/assumed was for automatics when it was for hand washing. That can happen easily enough. How many times have people grabbed the wrong item thinking it's something else? But the one I really can't figure out are people with dishwashers who put ordinary dish soap in them! Not talking about Jannie, so please don't take offense, because I've heard of this so many times! Apparently it's not all that uncommon. I just don't quite understand how it can happen so often. Seems like the dishwasher detergent is SO different from the other, I can't see someone grabbing a bottle of Dawn instead of Cascade for instance. But in fairness I haven't had a dishwasher in 30+ years so maybe I'm missing something. And I realize accidents happen. And I would guess that once you have a "Lucy Show" episode in your kitchen it won't happen again! But look on the bright side: It's a good way to make a person clean their floors too I suppose!

I don't know, if I had read "for one load" I think I would think it was for a dishwasher, too. I've never "loaded" my sink.

What a shock!
It sure is great that you were feeling conservative and only used 1/3!

I would have used white vinegar in there to clean it out. It's supposed to cut soap.

I think they could have certainly used better wording.

OMG!! I have had to use sink soap when I have been out of DW soap....but VERY littls! I have on the other hand, used the homemade liquid laundry soap...very little and that does a wonderful job on the dishes in the dishwasher...JUST A TINY BIT!

Well just think.....your dishwasher in and OUTside are really clean! =)

Well, you know, suds happen.

I think I would let the company know that their wording could be a little more clear. They might send you a whole case to thank you for the suggestion.

Think how many "loads" you could wash then.
