I tried it, and really didn't like it at all. It's supposed to have health benefits and weight loss benefits ... I've never seen it work for anyone tho.

I am a tea lover; I don't like or ever drink coffee. There are a gazillion things that are supposed to be good for you, but who really knows? I'm not going to give up what I enjoy just for the sake of it might be better for me.

I have tried green tea, and many of the flavored ones. None match the good old plain Orange Pekoe and cut Black Pekoe Liptons. And it has 175mg Protective Antioxidants per serving!

I'm drinking a cup right now. I had gotten into a bad habit of having a diet soda in the afternoon and last year I started replacing that with hot or iced tea. Sometimes I have green, other days I have black, white or herbal. maybe you could try another brand? The green teas I drink are Yogi and Celestial Seasons.

I love the Stash brand of Jasmine Green Tea in the grocery store. I don't like plain green tea.

I've recently taken to drinking a cup of green tea daily @ noon for its "health benefits"... antioxidant rich. I can't say that the flavor is "great", I much prefer my regular Lipton's with a splash of lemon in the morning.

I wasn't aware until ds told me, that green tea also has caffeine in it. Since I seem to be fairly caffeine sensitive in recent years, I try not to drink it much past mid-afternoon.

I have been a tea drinker all my life, not one for coffee or soda etc. I love my "Tetley" tea but on occassion I do have green tea, red zinger, cranberry etc. They are just a little bit of a different taste.
I am always cautious though because years ago when green tea became the new craze my daughter bought a no name brand and became extremely ill from it. I will only ever buy a recognized name now after that.
Many many years ago we used to make our own dandelion tea and loved it.

My hubby likes the green tea. I prefer the Plantation Mint over all kinds of tea. I have my coffee morning and evening, but enjoy a cup or two of my mint tea in the afternoon.

I buy Morrocan Loose leaf Green Tea with Mint. I love it!! Have about 4 cups a day.

I'm like you Linda, I only drink mint tea if it's Plantation.

I drink green tea, and Vitaminwater green tea. I never associated it with nausea. Maybe I'm used to it so it doesn't affect me.

Someone once told me that herbal teas thin the blood. I've never looked it up to see if it's true.

I've tried for 30 years to like tea in any form - especially when visiting DH's family in England.

Nope - I hate tea. All kinds. Green is the worst. I drink a couple of cups of coffee in the morning, then really nothing else except water (or wine with dinner, LOL).

My chef son-in-law told me TAZO tea is the best. I like the greeen tea they have. Now I'm drinking green tea with ginger. With a little honey added, it's good.

I use two different teabags together - I also don't like green tea all alone, but I LOVE Earl Grey & English Breakfast so I mix them!

I love loose leaf tea but time constraints don't always allow for this...

beeohio: I have both caffeine and non-caffeine green teas in my cupboard right now. The brand is Twinings. I prefer the English or Irish Breakfast teas myself.

I am a tea drinker also, never coffee. My Grandma from many years ago always drank green iced tea from a pint jar. I loved it when she would share it with me. I can not right now think of the brand she used. My favorite is the black tea made by Irani tea the best for iced tea. I also like Tetely's British blend for hot tea. I am not too much into the flavors but will drink them once in a while. Remember sassafrass tea. We used to drink that when I was at home. They dug up the roots and made tea. I seem to remember it was sort of pink or reddish in color. I am drinking iced tea right now.

Never nauseates me, and I prefer green to others. I like Tetley's, Twinings, and Stash. I have about four cups of coffee in the morning, and tea in the PM.

I am sorry I didn't answwer your question NO - green tea does not nauseate me-- I just don't like the taste so I use two different teabags together.

Green tea doesn't nauseate my hubby but it may do that to you because everyone's body chemistry is so different.

Zeetera, we are two of a kind. Plantation brand is the only mint tea I will buy. Do you grow mint and ever break off a leaf and just chew it? I love mint leaves.

Plain green tea reminds me of grass. I don't like to drink grass.

we drink it all the time. it does take some getting used to. dh drinks a huge mug every morning on the way to work..he does add a packet or 2 of sweetner. i often add a bit of honey. i think the best way is not to brew it for very long. i'm forever leaving the tea bag in and have notice it does get bitter, so remove pretty fast.

Yes it can cause nausea Claire! It makes me feel sick IF it is the regular caffeinated type... I cannot tolerate caffeine.

DH drinks the green tea with jasmine. He feels if it steeps for more than about a minute, it tastes "grassy" and unpleaseant. Perhaps you could try a rapid steep and see if it's the grassiness that makes you nauseated.

Someone above mentioned sassafrass tea - good stuff!
However, there is a secret to making good sassafrass tea. There are two varieties of sassasfrass trees, the red and the white, and outwardly, they appear almost identical. The inner bark of the roots of the red is pinkish to red color while the white is much lighter, almost white. Use only the inner bark. It is the red sassafrass that makes the better tea; tea made with the white tastes like it was made with, ahh, wood chips.

The best tea comes from the root bark before the sap rises in spring. My mother made sassafrass tea around the first of March (in southern IL).

The white sassafrass is more common than the red.

I drink 64oz or more of green tea a day and have never felt nauseated.

I too am a TAZO fan. They all taste different and you need to keep trying until you find one you like. Maybe you can have a green tea exchange party with some of your friends. LOL

Jemdandy I think we must have had the red. We still own the farm where the sassafrass was dug, but I think the trees are long gone. This was in central Indiana. I remember we only got it in the early spring.

No Linda, but my mom grows 2 types and one is a bush. I've seen her chew a leaf from the bush.

I thought I had answered the question to the best of my ability given the limited amount of info I had.

Maybe someone should start a thread on teas. I may be open to trying more out.

My DH bought some and tried it. I'm not sure of the brand though. He would get nauseated so he quit drinking it. I'm not sure he ever got used to the taste either. He is not sensitive to caffeine so I don't think that was it. In my case, if I really can't tolerate the taste of something, I'll get nauseated. In my case, I know it's in my head and nothing to do with the actual product. Could this be your problem?

Are you looking for a specific health benefit known to be available only from green tea? Why not eat or drink something else if the tea nauseates you? I'm confused......

I've been drinking green tea for several years, but notice if I steep it too long, it does make me feel slightly nauseated. But I also notice the same thing with black tea.

I've been drinking green tea every morning for years, not because they say it's healthy, but because I like it. It doesn't cause nausea at all.

I've never noticed any health benefits from it.

Claire, I've never been nauseated from it, but I DID find that LIPTON green tea gives me a royal headache!

Clairdo ... thank you so much for starting this thread at the end of January. As I mentioned earlier, I drink 64 oz of green tea at work each day (M-F). I started a number of months ago on a kick to do healthy things like hike, get enough sleep, don't work so hard, etc.

As the months passed, my skin and scalp started breaking out and became so oily I was beside myself. Saw two doctors and became somewhat anti-social because of it. Was put on anti-biotics and have tried a number of approaches to keep the oiliness down, all to no avail. In fact it just got worse. So bad, I was about to make an appointment with my GYN to have hormone levels checked or just shoot myself ;-)

Because of this thread, I started thinking about green tea in a different way. Started wondering if maybe it was causing my skin problems. So today I Googled "green tea" and "oily skin" and found an acne forum that had a lengthy discussion on skin problems possibly related to green tea. OMG, I am certainly not alone!!! It seems the same thing has happened to a lot of other people.

I stopped drinking green tea on Monday and already I notice a difference. I might not have to go looking for castor and sunflower oil after all (see Vickey_MN post below on cleaning oily skin). Vickey, do you drink a lot of green tea by chance?
