Not familiar with that one. The Cuisinart one that is so well reviewed and used by so many (our family included) is available at Williams-Sonoma now with a second bowl included (the best value) and now at Sur la Table in bright colors. I've had mine for several years now.

Lascatx or anyone, is this the Cuisinart model you have?

Well I'm jealous because that isn't one of the specials our Aldi's has for this week. I printed a coupon off their website but I doubt it will do me any good. If they don't have it, they just don't have it.

Cathy, I have the Cuisinart model you linked to. I love it; it's great. I checked out my local Aldi's yesterday and they didn't have anything except a sandwich maker and some bath mats. I hope those of you looking for the ice cream maker can find it! If not, the Cuisinart is highly recommended by me. I got mine last year at Costco (I think). Well, you know, I've slept since then!

I have this one, it works fine and since my kitchen is separate from my living room, I don't notice a problem with noise. I know some others have said it's really noisy and that was bothersome.

Cathy, LOL, you're right. I'm a smidge closer to Penzey's than you. And since my sister lives in Jax, I just call her & she goes & buys whatever I want and brings it to me when she comes to visit Mom. How cool is that?

My Aldi's did have the ice cream maker even though it wasn't in their ad. I have an ice cream maker I got several years ago but I seem to have misplaced everthing except the part you leave in the freezer. How worthless that is!

I'll be making lemon verbena sorbet as soon as my plant grows a few more leaves.

Cathy, I have just one word for you... ENABLER! You bad bad girl! Guess what followed me home from Aldi this morning? Yep, this ice cream maker. I was given a lovely brown vintage Waring years ago by a friend when she moved (the same one that is staying with me now actually), but the lid cracked and I had to make an ugly repair with something called plastic surgery. It also requires lots of ice and salt and that's just too much to mess with, and I hate buying that stuff every time I want to make ice cream! I never use the thing because of that! I've long wanted one with the freezable container... ever since the Cuisinarts first came out. I debated hard about buying this, but went back in after buying and loading groceries into the car... I just couldn't resist for 20 dollars. I thought about waiting, but I know Aldi.... once they are gone, they are gone, and may never come back. I plugged it in to hear the motor, and it doesn't seem very powerful, but maybe it doesn't need to be. I love the ingredient fill hole... just hope cat hair doesn't fly in when I'm making ice cream! I'll report back after I use it.

Sorry, I haven't been back for a bit nad just saw this. Mine is like the one annie1992 posted a link to and we got it at WS with the extra bowl They seem to run that special every year near Mother's Day and Father's Day. It's really nice to have two. My son makes 2 different kinds of sorbet most of the time he pulls it out. He's made it for 3 friends who got their wisdom teeth out and I loved that.

The ones at Sur la Table are the same, also on sale but come in bright colors instead of with a second bowl. I'd have to get one if I didn't have the white one.

Now, if you want a FREE ice cream maker, you can get a KA mixer with a free ice cream bowl attachment -- their current rebate offer. ;-)

Cathy, I forgot that you didn't have a KA... Do you have a Cuisinart isntead? I think the reason I haven't gotten any attachments for the KA, including the ice cream maker, is because if the KA died I'd be forced to get another just to use the attachments. Too bad they aren't universal!

Yes, I did have a place for the old ice cream maker (though with the addition of a blender and toaster oven, I've had to kick the vacuum sealer off the counter and into the closet)... but what should I do with the old one? It does work, and it matches the ugly brown on my fabulous vintage food processor so I can't just throw it away, can I? I'll at least hang onto it until I decide whether or not to "marry" this new Crofton contraption.

Hopefully, some others of you here will take advantage of the deal and post your reviews of this thing! It is one heck of a price!

My Aldi's didn't advertize the ice cream maker but had them... I bought one, brought it home, washed it, put the bowl in the freezer... Now what?

The only fruits I have are kiwi and cantaloupe... And I have no cream or half & half.... LOL

Guess I'll just have to make a trip to the store tomorrow and get some stuff... That is, after I see to hubby's needs, cut the grass, see to hubby's needs, plant two trays of annuals, see to hubby's needs.... Oh wait, this should be in the TGIF thread... lol
