HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH AMANA AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM!!!! I have owned Amana central air conditioning systems in a number of homes, and always thought they were of the highest quality. In fact, I installed a central system at our summer beach house, which operated relaibly and without any problems whatsoever in a high salt-air, highly corrosive environment, and it served us well for more than a decade. As a result, when we were building our new house in 2009-10, I specified five Amana systems for our 7500 square foot home. WHAT A MISTAKE! This summer, we have learned that three of the five evaporator coils are leaking, and further learned that the HVAC subcontractor NEVER REGISTERED the warranty with Amana. Simple fix, right? Just call the Customer Service department and explain the problem. No... THE AMANA ORGANIZATION HAS TOTALLY IGNORED US, IN WHAT MAY BE THE POSTER CHILD FOR HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. They have stonewalled us, and have not replied to phone calls and emails. Their local distributor has refused to give us the name of their local rep in an effort to find someone who cares about our problem. No help, no solution. I have to fix the problem and pay for what should have been warranted repairs out of my own pocket, because the cost of the service calls coupled of an electircity bill that has skyrocketd while trying to get help from Amana has me with no choice but to fix it myself. IF YOU BUY AN AMANA AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM AND NEED FACTORY SUPPORT, FORGET IT. YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN, AND THEY WILL NOT STAND BY THEIR PRODUCTS!!!!!

Tigerdunes, I am having a 2.5 tom replaced. The home is 3400 sq. ft. but this AC is for the upstairs only, I'm guessing 12-1400 sq. ft. The thermostat is icomfort Wi-Fiî Touchscreen Thermostat Include Merv 11 air filtration system I have discussed the humidity with the HVAC company. I have no idea of the typical run tines, but it is NOT cyclling on and off. The reason for the replacement is multiple leaks in the condenser. They added 5 lbs. of freon to tide us over, to be recovered and credited back to up with new installation. Is there any other information I can provide. Thank you and this forum for any assistance. yes you can add air to your furnace. Most coils are made to blow through, so make sure you install the right coil. Once you find out what size air you need, you have to make sure your furnace blower and ducts are sized to handle that amount of air con. Most heating guys will say you need to move about 400 cfm of air per ton of cooling. Also make sure you have a filter large enough to handle the amount of air you have to move. About 300 cfm per 1 sq. ft. of filter. Best was is to call a pro. to check out your system and price it for you. A lot of times you have to do enough remodel tat this would be a good time to change furnace out, for better eff. on both heating and cooling. Later paulbm

Some observations... I had always believed that for your location/climate, a HP was borderline and that many homeowners elected straight AC systems with a heat strip. Carrier offers a coastal condenser which I would recommend. Link attached. You also should insist on the L suffix for aluminum coil on the Infinity air handlers. Your load calcs don't appear to match the size HVAC quoted. I don't see how the heating load would be greater than the cooling load. I will have to study this more when I have time.
