Need help in choosing a furnace and air conditioner

I live in a 1300 sq. ft townhouse on 3 levels in the Chicago are. My current Trane furnace and airconditioner are 23years old and although I've never needed a service call I am concerned about the furnace giving out because of it's age. I have no choice but to have an 80% furnace because the larger sizes can't be vented out. That being a given, should I get a single stage (which I now have) or a 2 stage furnace? I am told by salesmen that my existing Honeywell/Chronotherm 111 work on a 2 stage furnace, the Honeywell people tell me it won't. Which one is right?

My latest quote was for the following:

American standard OPF10W 80%Freedom or a 2 stage Freedom (no munber listed) and the Complete 2-5 ton 13 seeR R410A Allegiance air conditioner. Are these the best choice for my house or would another manufacturer be better? Please help - I know NOTHING about furnaces and airconditioners.
