Ditch the Kenmore - buy Speed Queen?

Well, the repairman told us yesterday our Kenmore Elite 24962 w/d set is about worn out (only 4 yrs old!). He said that even though Kenmore sells these as "King Size Capacity" that only means the larger loads wear out the motors faster. Apparently the motors aren't "King Size" to handle the additional stress from larger loads.

I've been noodling around to determine who makes the most reliable (we don't care so much about aesthetic appeal). Can't believe that all mfgs are making appliances that don't last more than a half dozen years.

The most respected local appliance dealer recommends Speed Queen as "by far the most reliable" washers and dryers. They apparently primarily mfg commercial coin op units but have a residential line.

I'm thinking the main reasons Speed Queen isn't mentioned much is that 1. they may not distribute and advertise as much as the major brands and/or 2. they really don't have problems so folks don't have a reason to post issues here or on the other forums.

Any thoughts?
