I just had pie and coffee too! Yummy!

Coffee and...well, pretty much anything (JAVA!chic!)! This year, though, it my homemade chocolate almond or cranberry orange biscotti.

yep..me too!! was going to post it and you beat me to it lol.

My belly is going haywire after all the yesterday rich foods. I have started my picnic pork roast stock and my turkey stock for the freezer. Already did much meat pickings while in the process. I imagine the pie pickings will come in around lunch time. I'm so glad I loaded much of the thanksgiving meal onto the boys to take home so I'm limited on how much of a pig I can be today. Does anyone else's belly feel like this today ))))))))?

I went Black Friday shopping, but I made lemon meringue and dutch apple pies. The apple with coffee is amazing.

My tummy is rumbling! We went to MILs yesterday and it was pretty underwhelming food wise. I brought home two small plates for DH and I, and we ended up eating them last night as the meal at MILs earlier in the day was like a normal evening meal.

She didn't have any pumpkin pie, only store bought peach & apple, so no yummy pie & coffee for me. Just finished my coffee and will have some toast & greek yogurt-not a real Friday meal!

Oddly enough, I have a ginormous turkey that I need to roast this weekend-it's a long story, but I will be able to have nice turkey for a long time and will look forward to creative ways to use up turkey.

Had thanksgiving with my italian boyfriend and his family so today we are making turkey tetrazzini - as if the rich meal yesterday wasn't bad enough we have to mix it with more butter, cream, wine and pasta. Boy do these people know how to live. We were going to call what the bf calls "the morning after" sandwich this morning (turkey, stuffing, cranberries on bread) but lazed in bed too long and his mom made pancakes instead. I am going to need to hit zumba pretty hard next week.

I LOVE turkey tetrazzini and had it in October when we have our Thanksgiving (Cdn.) and now have to wait until Christmas to have it again. Any chance there is a recipe to share from your boyfriends family?

Kgwlisa, butter ekkk...there isn't going to be enough rooma for me to do zumba! Last week my neighbors brought me a HUGE chunk of Amish butter. My husband and I looked at each other and said "how on earth are we going to eat all this butter". One med size tub of low fat butter substitute lasts us forever. Well somehow or another after cooking up a storm for thanksgiving and the meal itself there is only a tiny bit left. My sons girlfriend who weighs less than 100lbs was spreading it on rolls like frosting. I used to be able to do that, now I only need to look at it to gain.

Even for the kids. My daughter hosted T-day for the first time ever, and she was talking about looking forward to pie for breakfast.

Pie for breakfast - didn't realize so many people do that! My mom brought home a piece of apple pie that dh made so that she could have it for breakfast this morning (she had chocolate and pumpkin pie last night). When I got up this morning, I so wanted a piece of pie for breakfast too, but with my kids all sitting there in the family room, I didn't want them getting any ideas (then there wouldn't be anything for dessert tonight!).

Does anyone make that Paula Deen gooey pumpkin cake? OMG, it is SOOOO yummy but so incredibly fattening with 2 sticks of butter among other things. The first year I had it, my SIL made it. We had all gone to Hawaii for Thanksgiving that year. We rented a condo with BIL's family and hosted T-Day there, but everyone else was staying at a resort hotel nearby. The next morning, I opened the fridge and there was that delicious pumpkin cake. I couldn't help myself and ate at least two pieces for breakfast! I made the mistake of introducing it to my kids a couple of years ago and now my oldest keeps asking for it. But I just can't have that in my house b/c I can't stay away! LOL

I forgot about turkey tetrazzini! My mom used to make that. I think after today, dh will be tired of turkey, so I'm going to freeze it. I think I'll use some later next week for tetrazzini!

Oh, I have a recipe for leftover turkey that's pretty good - you make a quiche with turkey, but use leftover stuffing as the crust. Fun way to use up some turkey and stuffing!

I had pumpkin crunch (which may be similar to the Paula Deen cake), and hot chocolate for breakfast!! YUM

I had several cups of coffee then Instant Breakfast. I have to have my IB every day!

Right now I'm drinking coffee again (doing online black friday shopping), but I cannot drink coffee with food.

I can drink a milkshake, milk, tea, pop, anything with food, but coffee makes me feel too full for some reason.

We have Pumpkin pie, pumpkin from our garden, and several slices of other pies from yesterday. Ironically, I don't like the taste of pumpkin!

Pie for breakfast here too, for as many days as it will hold out.... and I LOVE adding the leftover homemade whip cream to my coffee.....

Oh I agree about the homemade whipped cream and coffee. I always make extra at Thanksgiving and Christmas just for my coffee.

Whoa, I'm a big outlier on this one. Basically you are just eating dessert for breakfast. For me all that sugar would cause a wicked glycemic spike then a crash and I'd probably end up with a headache. Not to mention seems like you'd be hungry again in no time, after having just packed in a ton of empty non-nutritive calories.

No pie for breakfast here. I only made one, and it was such a hit, I left it at my parents' for them to enjoy. We had turkey sandwiches today for lunch. Tomorrow we'll have turkey gumbo while we watch football. (Go DAWGS!) We always have turkey tetrazzini the Sunday after Thanksgiving. I can't wait!

I love dessert for breakfast! I had coffee and a piece of lemon tart and a cranberry and pistachio biscotti. Then while running errands, I had a Starbucks eggnog latte. Then I bought a new elliptical. :-)

Runninginplace, in theory it sounds good, but there is no way I could really do it, especially if I'm going to workout. I agree on the sugar rush. Same thing with Starbucks. I can't eat their sugary things for breakfast either. Some locations do at least have oatmeal.

I don't eat much breakfast typically, but I love very sweet, crispy, oatmeal cookies with my morning coffee. I only drink coffee in the am, so that is the perfect time to have dessert.
I made fresh apple and pumpkin pies early Thanksgiving, I like them still warm, but they were gone quickly. (people brought tupperware for leftovers!)

I always have a smaller portion of my regular, healthy breakfast and then give in to siren song of the dessert with tea about 9 am. I had an apple tart on Friday and this morning it was pumpkin pie. At least today I waited until after exercise class before I had the pie. Tomorrow morning it's back to the straight and narrow because we're out of dessert.

My mother ruined me for pie. She was a pie maker whose crust was light, flakey and the best I have ever tasted.

On cold, weekend mornings, it was common to wake up to as many as six pies. The smell of pies baking in the oven says home to me. We couldn't wait for them to cool so we could have pie for breakfast. She raised the fruit, berries, etc. and froze them in her freezer.

She didn't use a recipe and never made less than six at a time so I didn't master her crust recipe. I have quit having pie since she died. I have just given up on it.

Once, Derek asked Grandma for an apple pie. She asked, "Where am I going to find apples this time of year?" I responded, "The grocery store, Mom. You can buy apples year round now."

Part of the holiday season is indulging every now and then. I see nothing wrong with pie in the mornings. At least they have fiber in them. Unless it's a chocolate cream pie. :)

Hmmm, I think I'll make my famous banana pudding in my trifle bowl, now that I have "cream" on my mind. lol You guys are making me hungry!

So funny, golddust! I think all of my mil's family have said something similar to her too. The Grocery Store, a marvelous invention! You can buy a tomato in February. (Of course, it's not any good....)

I always make a jam cake for Thanksgiving and Christmas and we enjoy it the "morning after" with coffee. Best breakfast in the world! My son has inherited my bad habit also - when he leaves on Thanksgiving everning, he always takes a couple of slices for breakfast.

Some people like sweets for breakfast, some don't. Me, sadly, I like sweets anytime! And while I indulged yesterday - it's not something I do often. I can't eat like that all the time/often, or I'd have a serious weight problem! Thankfully, I am not diabetic, so I don't have to watch my sugar, but I do feel better when I cut back on "the white stuff".

As some one else mentioned, I am getting back to my healthy eating. It's so easy to let pounds creep on during the holidays. I try to plan ahead and allow for certain events and cut back on the days in between.

I had pumpkin pie for breakfast yesterday, too! My tummy has not felt good all day today. Thankful I only kept one meal of leftovers, sent the rest home with the guys who went hunting and the guests.

As much as I love good pie, I found an even better alternative for me this year. I have a great recipe for Cranberry-Orange Compote that all our friends and family love for me to make every year for Thanksgiving (and Christmas). The other day I ran across a recipe over on Allrecipes.com for "Cranberry Swirl Coffee Cake" (by Laura Owen) using cranberry sauce and sour cream. I used my own homemade cranberry sauce for this recipe and it was delicious . . . very moist and very holiday-ish. We had it Thanksgiving morning for breakfast, as well as Friday and this morning. With a pot of fresh-brewed coffee, it was the perfect way to start each morning!
