Rain and cool, even a hint that we could see a few snowflakes on Sunday. I sure hope not. We may do some shopping tomorrow, plants? clothes? heck if I know.
Dinner out for sure! I'm getting tired of being housebound.
I'll clink with my coffee cup anytime, hope everyone has a good weekend.
It's supposed to rain here today and tomorrow, maybe snow on Sunday. I was hoping to get some manure spread on the garden so I can get it tilled in, we'll see.
Elery will be here in about an hour, then we're taking a walk to the Clerk's office to buy a marriage license. (I'm taking a deep breath here). After that we'll take a drive out to The Shack, about 3 miles away. The very nice owner (Ashley used to work for him) has agreed to let us use the gazebo overlooking the lake for the ceremony.
One last stop to discuss the (very short) ceremony with the (very old) pastor, and I'll be ready for next Saturday.
Still colder than heck here too. I cuss mother nature while scraping the ice off my car windows every morning. I brought Conway to work this morning and he's cracking me up! He sits on the back of the couch looking out the window "guarding" his office. If someone walks by with a dog, he flies through the office barking his fool head off, out the back door, into the fenced back yard and lets everyone in the neighborhood know he's on duty!
'Cept I'm freezing my buns off leaving the back door open for him to come and go. Not much on the agenda for the weekend. I have a huge rubber plant that I need to clean all the leaves on. Landlord had someone come and clean the outside of all the windows, so I should break down and do the inside. They are filthy. Want to make home made egg rolls, but that would entail a trip to the grocery store. We'll see. And I still have a ton of spaghetti sauce with meatballs and a pan of lasagna I need to send home with someone... Oh, and the lasagna turned out great, you guys, thanks for the baking help. I ate way too much. And still have a ton to give away. Little Conway loved it too. I'm surprised he's not pooping lasagna noodles this morning! LOL
Nancy, it's raining AGAIN today here also. Supposed to rain both Saturday (showers) & Sunday (heavier).
We don't have any set plans. DH needs a new suit so we might go to Providence? He likes Nordstroms's cause they fix anything that needs fixing for the life of the suit free. DH always manages to tear something. (sigh)
We might go antiquing in MA tomorrow. Our favorite store is gearing up for an anniversary extravaganza & we thought it'd be fun to check out the inventory before the mobs arrive for the sale. It's a hike though & we're trying to cut back on our driving.
Whatever, I'm still glad it's Friday!
Have a good one everybody. I'll clink with my Caffeine Free Diet Pepsi.
Crappy weather here too.....did I mention how sick and tired I am of this blasted winter/spring?
No great plans here. Want to get some garden prep done but lots will depend on the weather. Just can't get seem to excited about gardening when wearing a parka. Maybe we'll go into Toronto to the St. Lawrence Market Saturday morning. That's always a big event for me, fabulous place.
Have a good one everybody, I'll clink you all with my Friday night Martini about 6:30.
TGIF all...I can finally see my poor, brown, sickly lawn! It did snow a bit yesterday, but it didn't stick. Now if I could just see my garden, I'd be happy.
Tricia, it has been a long week. We made it through a "going away/don't let the door hit you in the a** on your way out" party for an employee that was driving morale into the ground and then an ex-employee with impeccable timing stepped in and it's like she never left.
With all this sunshine, I may have to break out the Margaritas and celebrate. Have a great weekend, everyone! ~clink~
I have spent the last few hours doing yard work - the grass is cut, the edges are trimmed and the sidewalk and driveway have been blown. At least the outside is ready for the Derby Day party tomorrow!
I;m sorry so many of you are having carpy weather, it seems spring has sprung here. HEre are a couple of pics of what my yard looks like right now....
Tonight we are going to the opening of a new ice cream shop - Sweet Pea - where a friends daughter is starting her first job tonight. I don't care for ice cream, but my guys do and I'm sure I can get something else.
Tomorrow we are having a few friends for a Kentucky Derby party - I will probably put a couple of dollars on Eight Belles (the onyl filly in the race) but that is sentimental only - I don't think she will win.
Sunday it is supposed to be rainy, so we will probably lay low and just watch movies.
Annie - I will be toasting you with champagne on May 10th, it is my wedding anniversary too and I can only hope you and Elery have many years of happiness. DH and I have an 11 year head start, but we can vouch for the date being a lucky one!
OMG Annie is it nearly that time already???? How the weeks have just flown by. I can't believe you're so close to getting married! We'll be sitting here waiting for all the news about the preparations and the event. Good Luck!
I hate to talk about it but we've been having beautiful warm and sunny weather.....I almost feel guilty. After that wave of hot dusty weather it has gone back to normal here and it's very pleasant.
I met my former keep-fit instructor and her husband for a coffee this morning in a cafe adjoining the language academy where she is now teaching English.

After we had a nice chat I walked on another 5 minutes to my Pilates class, meeting one of my Spanish lady classmates on the way. The little cafe had a daily menu of fish so I picked up Wolf later and we went up there for lunch. Fish was finished when we got there but we had a good light meal.
It's a four day holiday here so supermarkets are crowded and there are a lot of cars on the road. We're just going to hunker down here in the house and sit in the garden with a couple of new books and a long cool drink.
It's countdown to Annie and Elery's nuptials, Hooray! Or Booyah! whichever you prefer, LOL.
I have a busier-than-busy weekend up - visiting bro and taking him out for BDay dinner Saturday, staying at his house overnight then table Tennis lessons on Sunday and dinner with whoever is coming from the club.
My usual coach is taking a break so another guy is coaching me for the next month. His coaching style is completely different, so we'll see how it goes. It will probably be good, so I'm looking forward to it.
I do so well in class, then when I try to play a game, everything just goes out the window! I need to play more with different people so I relax and grow. But I'm always hesitant to ask folks to play because they're all better than me. I just approach them and ask for a mercy game, LOL.
I tense up and hold my blade so tight my hand gets cramped and sweaty. (Eww).
Your table tennis sounds like so much fun! I used to play with DH but he won't play with me anymore. I'm ambidexious (sp?) and switch the paddle back/forth between hands while just standing in one place. DH says I cheat! :(
To me, it doesn't make sense to run around all over the place when you can just move the paddle from one hand to another...
I write left-handed (but can also use my right hand); bowl right-handed, use a knife or scissors with my right hand, iron with my left hand. Basically, I use whatever hand is available! lol
Enjoy your new coach & try it my way...much less work.
Busy weekend here too. Going to help DM get some some flowers in her beds then she is going with me to a huge meat sale that our local family owned grocery store has twice a year. They do have great meat and I'll stock up for the summer. Sunday I'll be out in the yard doing stuff, there is lots of stuff that needs to be done. Trying to figure out how I want to add on to the patio and pool decking.
They are talking about another frost warning for tomorrow night....this is crazy for us this time of year. Better off than my family in Rapid City, they are dealing with two feet plus of snow from the blizzard.
Annie, I'm so happy for you two!
Alexa, the yard looks great!
Angelaid, love your assistant! Ms. Lucy comes to work with me at least once a week.

Oooh, Congrats! As someone who got married for the first time a year and a half ago (at 45!), I can tell you that the choice I made in maturity is far better than those I almost (but not quite) made when I was younger. Enjoy every minute!
TGIF indeed! My husband and I are going away for a three day weekend to stay in a lovely house on the northern California coast. Beautiful walks along the bluff overlooking the ocean, cuddles in front of the fire place, soaks in the hot tub, and a fully equipped, wonderful kitchen. I've got our meals all set, ingredients in coolers & totes and I'm taking my watercolors with firm instructions to myself that I AM going to use them.
I am also going to put the war I've been waging against the yearly Japanese beetle swarm to save my roses out of my mind after one more early morning spray. Wretched bugs.
A bit of summer for those of you still waiting for warmth and greenery (I am not gloating...soon enough I will be suffering in 100+, relentless heat while y'all are enjoying summer breezes!)...
Oooh Annie! The excitement is building! Enjoy your weekend, especially the manure spreading part :)
I love Conway - he looks very happy to be at work. Pugs are so soft and velvety, I just love them!
Rachelellen - I envy you the Northern Coast! Spent a few days at the Little River Inn and loved Mendocino - are you going to that area by any chance? Guess I'll have to wait until the weekend is over to find out!
I have Lakeguy's Simpler Times French Toast and also Ginger's Tide & Thyme Buffet Breakfast French Toast in the fridge awaiting tomorrow morning. One sweet and one savory - carb heaven at my house tomorrow. Meeting my cousins for our annual all girls birthday weekend - shopping, dinner and a Broadway show - a tradition started by my Mom when we were teenagers and we've kept it up for a few (LOL) more years! Eight of us back to my house late tonight for a pajama party - no kids and no husbands (Ken will be hiding upstairs :) and lots of talking. Happy Birthday to Us!
I didn't even see Friday coming. Only working at the factory this weekend. Finished spring planting for the year. Thought I was going to die getting that bit of work done but it is past now. Hope to be more social when I get my energy back.
