One caveat would be that these are
"pocket grabbers" that will snag things on the open ends. I had some and hated them, although your mileage may vary. :)
Otherwise, what a great collection -- I really don't think you can go wrong with any high-quality handles.

These are Arts & Crafts, stylistically, and you have a Victorian kitchen. That's my only minor nitpit, and I've seen lots of melanges of the two that looked great.

Yes, Circuspeanut, I wondered about the grabbing. I wonder if it helps that the edges are rounded? I've never had pulls like these.

I don't think I'd describe the style of my kitchen as Victorian, however. The house is a very modest, simple colonial. Which might make these drawer pulls an even worse choice. And they are pricey, to me, so it's not like I could change them out in the near future.

Maybe I should go with the safer choice - bin pulls. Not that anyone in this house cares much about my choices, but my 13-year-old son says they look like they belong in an office. (I know I am taking this too seriously when his kitchen design opinions bother me) The new kitchen will be very utilitarian, so I want to add some decorative elements. I love art deco floral designs, but maybe I should just some plates or something instead.

Any other opinions out there? These pulls or bin pulls or would you suggest something else? Thanks

Well, I think you should go with what you love most, and that will look the most appropriate. I really like your chosen pulls & didn't mean to rain on your hardware lovefest. :)

I vote for your first choice. They are classy and understated, yet not run-of-the-mill. I think their proportions and simplicity of detail will blend well with shaker lines.

I think you should go for them- they are beautiful and unique. I am a firm believer in doing something fun for pulls. When I'm in a kitchen that does fun pulls, it personalizes it a bit more. I'm not sure why your kitchen is considered Victorian (I mean this in the humblest way, I trust it is considered that, but just in my ignorance of current kitchen style wouldn't have categorized in that way) but that style of pull would definitely fit with shaker style. It wouldn't fit with 1930's style which was more stream-lined and art deco. If you wanted to do that, although I know you don't like them, I would do green glass pulls (you can actually do green glass handle pulls too). The link below is to a kitchen that has similar cabinets and counter top and goes 30's.

If you were going Victorian, I actually think the style would work with it, while it wouldn't be considered high Victorian, remember Victorian style spanned a long time and includes arts and crafts and eastlake is part of this category. Also remember, if you look historically, the Victorians didn't paint much of anything white- they couldn't get a real white color, it was more brownish because they used Linseed oil as a mixer- so again, go with what you love and don't fret about matching. It's impossible to do accurately.

Yeesh sorry for the mini-history shpeil (speil? speel?) but that's one of my favorite parts of decorating. Bottom line, you love them and you'll love having them, so I say run with it!

maureeninmd, I *agonised* over my cabinet hardware - it was the decision that took the longest! Finally found some I loved at Whitechapel, based in JH, Wyoming. For the island I found handles from an architectural salvage place in NY called Old Good Things. Both look great in our kitchen. Am a fan of House of Antque Hardware too - we almost went with a couple of their items.

The ones below are the ones we got from Whitechapel.

Here's another strange question I would have if I were to go with the Horton rose pulls: Since I am only using them on drawers, would the design even show that well? Maybe it would be a waste?

Hey, I answered on your other thread as well. I like the dark antique finish, but I think I agree with your last comment, that the rose detail will be hard to see. Also, I think the recessed detail will be a bear to clean, and you can't use a too-aggressive cleaner on those because you could spoil the finish. I dunno. If you love them, you will see that detail every day. And if you love them, you won't mind scrubbing them with baking soda and a toothbrush.
