It'll be just like the good old days, the Pack vs the Bears, hopefully in another snowstorm! I remember watching those great games when I was little and we lived near Milwaukee- my mom would be screaming and we'd all be so excited.

Listening to all the pundits prior to that game saying the Bears should rest their starters was unbelievable. I am glad they at least "tried" to beat us, should make the re-match a crazy love-fest. The Bears already have homefield advantage because they won the division....won't stop the Pack! :)

winning that game was not important because we were in the playoffs no matter what w/ home field advantage. what was important was that no one got hurt! that is contributing to seattle's downfall, i watched their last 2 games they played and i was nervous for today. next game will be exciting thou LOL i watched that GB game and we were very close the whole time. i may have to think about going up for it LOL think it will be nice FL weather LOL. we have 75 yr old season tix (4) fourth row on the 49th yd line, my uncle has 4 box seats in the corner :-) they woud just laugh if i even asked to go at this point LOL i'm sure they are spoken for :-/ ~ liz

I remember when I was a kid and my Dad used to drag me to Soldier Field to watch the Bears when they stunk! It was always the coldest day of the year when he couldn't get anyone else to go except his 10 year kid, who would follow her Dad to the ends of the earth which at that time was SF.

I was born in Milwaukee and lived in Mequon/Thiensville until I was 15. Then we moved to FL. Now I'm in Arkansas. Once a Cheesehead, always a Cheesehead!

sleeper it was probably not until i was almost a teen that i actually got into going to the games too because of the weather. went to every game in the 80's thou LOL and the superbowl parade in Jan 1986, senior yr high school. now cubs games were something else LOL we have season tix there too but the weather is completely different hahaha... my dad rarely goes to early season games, he gives them to clients or a charity that sells them on stubhub for fundraising. once the season is going well thou i can usually forget about getting to go LOL!

Glad you are a "family" member, Flamey. I didn't know you were a cheeser. DH is born and bred in Sconnie, and both kids were born in Madison. I've lived in Wisconsin as long as I lived in Illinois, so I guess I'm still a foreigner, or a FIB as we are still affectionately known as! Still have plenty of family in Chicagoland.

Liz, my crazy Aunt used to take us to see her Cubbies when I was a kid. I lost interest in having my heart broken after 1969 and the Mets fiasco.

Flamingo - I'm about 40 minutes from Mequon. I lived in Green Bay as a kid; two blocks from Lambeau. My parents had season tickets on the 50 for years; until my dad died and my mom mistakenly let them go. :( Of course, there were days in the 70's and early 80's that sometimes they couldn't give the tickets away.

I don't know who to root for between those two. but I DO
know I'm rooting against the Steelers. WE watched a lot
of their game the last 2 games, and they throw a LOT of
late hits, shoves, pushes out of bounds, and after the
whistles blow. the are just plain nasty!

When did tailgating start getting popular? I bet that increases attendance at games, or did back when it needed increasing... I'm not crazy about sitting out in the cold, but if there's food and drink and a hot grill involved, I could be persuaded!

Well, my mom became a widow at 43, very suddenly....and the packer tickets payment was due the next week; we couldn't blame her for overlooking it.

Tailgating has always been popular at Lambeau! My parents did it back in the sixties! After the game, all their friends came back to our house for chili. My parents always hired a babysitter and their friend's kids always came for the day. Those were the days...........

Oh, gosh. Your poor mom! I'm sure football anything was the last thing on her mind, how sad to become at widow at such a young age. It had to be awful for you kids, too.

I remember when the games would be blacked out in Milwaukee. Dad would pack the TV into the car, Mom would make us a huge picnic lunch and we would head for the Kettle Moraine State Park, where I guess the game came in from a different area, we could get it on the TV. He'd rent a space in the campground and set the TV up on a picnic table if the weather was nice or leave it in the back of the station wagon if it was drippy out and we would play along the beach of one of the lakes during half-time. And we always had a campfire, which made it extra fun for hot dogs and marshmallows. So I guess we sort of tailgated back in the 60's, too. With a TV. lol Those were definitely fun times!

And who knew back then when they were taking us to Mauthe Lake that I would grow up and marry a man named Mautte! lol I just think that's such a funny coincidence.

I remember living in Green Bay and you couldn't see the game either! Also remember my dad getting out of the hospital from gall bladder surgery and walking to the ice bowl!!! He died in 1986 and I sure wish he had lived a few more years to see Bret Favre bring the Packers back to some glory years!!

I think your Dad was what they call "a die-hard fan" if he walked there after surgery! lol That's dedication.

Woody and I were up there about 10 years ago, it's still such a beautiful and clean state, no litter on the roadways, just so pretty. Mequon has changed so much since I lived there, now it's all ritzy and huge homes. When we lived there it was just starting to be built from farmland. I think we were the first house on our street. I barely recognized it when we went by, everything was so grown and developed. Even little tiny Thiensville had changed a lot.

I don't see any more trips up in the future, but if you're ever down here in Arkansas or the Branson MO area, let me know, Juellie.
