My vote is for fresh-squeezed lime juice and zest, sugar, and tequila. Simple and perfect. :-)

This sounds strange, but I swear they are the best margaritas I've ever had:

Austin Margaritas

1 can frozen limeade
1 16 oz. bottle Sprite
1 bottle Corona beer
Tequila

Mix limeade, Sprite, and Corona in a drinking pitcher. Fill empty limeade can with tequila and add to mix. Stir well, and serve over ice in maragarita glasses with salted rims (optional).

I'm with Jessica on this one! Fresh squeezed lime juice is the important part.

Frozen Margaritas

1 (6 oz) can frozen limeade concentrate, thawed, UNDILUTED
3/4 Cup tequilla
1/4 Cup Triple Sec
Crushed ice
Fresh lime wedge & salt (optional for salting glass rim)

Combine first 3 ingredients in a blender, blend well. add crushed ice to fill blender container 3/4 full...Blend well. serves 4.

I make them like maddielee and everyone loves them. If I am making them for myself, I use Cointreau instead of Triple Sec. For me, only a small amount of fresh lime juice is necessary - the frozen limeade concentrate works perfectly well, although if it is too sweet, you can substitute part fresh lime juice for some of the concentrate. For the tequilla, I generally use Sauza Silver or something with 100 and anejo in the name. I save the Patron for sipping and do not use it in Margaritas.

Tequila, Triple Sec, and Lime Juice. Adjust proportions to your taste. I'm not a fan of the salt but it seems traditional to salt the glass rim.

A friend of mine told me her top secret margarita recipe, and its very similar to the one gardengrl posted above, the only difference is that these had no Sprite.

12 oz can frozen limeade
12 oz bottle Corona beer
12 oz Tequila

I had never heard adding beer to a margarita, but I vaguely remember that they were some of the best I've ever had.

The above recipes calling for fresh-squeezed lime juice and zest, sugar, and tequila remind me of my new favorite drink, the Caipirinha, which is lime juice, sugar and brazilian sugar cane rum (Cachaca)

Maddielee, I tried your recipe last night and they were TERRIFIC! My new go-to recipe. Thanks SO MUCH for posting!
