He just got here....they started labor at 6 PM more or less yesterday...my DS1 was a 17 hr labor ,

Baby is 19 " and 9 # !! big boy. Doing great and has a wonderfully distinctive name...Griffin Evers. We are all so pleased. Will be heading up there mid Nov. Give them some time to get on a schedule LOL.

THANK YOU for all the notes and good wishes. I am worn out and I didn't have to do anything but wait :) c

Thank you ! He is going to be SO loved....they have lots of time with the schedules they keep. DS1 has already worked out a plan to be home every day at 4 PM for 2 hrs so they can have family dinner time . We did that and he always loved it as did his siblings. Off to a great start. I can hardly wait to get up there . Will be hard to wait 2 1/2 weeks ! Thank you all for your kind words...now if they will find the books :( c

AJ...Grandma...nothing fancy. Our DIL's parents are oma and opa. They are Swiss and Canadian so have taken the names that were used by DIL's grandparents.

Today is DS1 and DIL's 9th wedding anniversary ...so a big week for them. c

I'm sitting here waiting for similar news. My niece went into labour this morning and so sometime this afternoon I will be a great-aunt, my brother will be a grandpa for the first time and my mom will be a great-grandma. The baby will live about 5 minutes away from me and I can't wait to get my fill of that new baby smell. The best ever.

Trailrunner - good luck on your bike trip and safe travelling. You're starting your trip from where I live and boy that's a looooonnnnnngggg way to bike. I hope that you'll keep us posted when you start.

My nieces baby was born at 6:00 pm on Wednesday. She had a baby boy and they are calling him Kinnon Edward W... 8 lbs 9 oz and everyone is doing well. I held him when he was about 18 hours old (the youngest I've held except my own) and he is just perfect.

It always amazes me that when babies are born that all the parts are where they belong - truly a beautiful miracle.

OT: trailrunner - when you are closer to planning/starting your trip give me a shout-out. It would be neat to meet someone from here if you have the time. Judging from your name you're a trailrunner, as am I, and I live a 5 minute walk from trails that go on for forever. (literally - like 800 KM worth of them) maybe a quick run (not 800km). Anyway let me know when plans are made.

bl: you run trails ??? How cool. I have done ultra-marathons all over the US and one in CN. Went to Haliburton Forest and did a 100 miler up there. Was an amazing place..we could hear the wolves all night as we ran. Howling. Very spooky.

Where are you exactly ? Vancouver BC ? I have run some trails up there a couple years ago when we visited. Yes the ones I was on went straight up from Vancouver on up to Whistler and on and on. You are so lucky. I will keep you posted for sure. Looks like late June or early July start.

Those would be the trails that I run on 3 times a week. I am definitely not at your level, I don;t do trail races. If I do a race it'll be a spur of the moment half/marathon. Keep us updated on your plans.
