OOOOOKKKK .... Thanks for validating my deer repellent experience :) and saying "I'm sure lots of things work" ... In MY experience ... this did, so I thought I would share :) I think perhaps a more productive way of addressing this whole topic could have been, "I appreciate your excitement of finding old fashioned ways that worked for our grandparents in gardening, and I'm sure some of them worked great, but a lot of valid research has been done since then and is worth investigating," instead of the aggressive, "This guy is a quack and preys on the ignorance of new gardeners," resulting in the reactive, "You all suck and I'm ignoring you." It's not rocket science psychology that's going on here. Just be nice ... and validating ... and supportive. If the price of an egg makes her plant grow and that makes her happy, and it's the calcium from the shell and the nitrogen from the decaying protein, etc etc etc, who are we to rain on her happy? We're not talking industrial farming here ... it's a back yard garden. You can say the same thing with kindness and get a lot more accomplished, ya know? :) -v

Buyer Beware> I have bought items from Goodwill off and on for the past few years. We didn't have a store close by. One thing you need to check is the outrageous shipping charges and handling charges. I saw a lovely metal vintage style tea pot I would love to have....bid 3.00 reasonable............shipping 10.00........handling.....2.00. Hmmmmmmmmmm tea pot not so attractive at 15.00 and that's if you get it for the 3.00 bid. I love looking thru all the items Goodwill has but some of their shipping rates are way out of line. All these items are donated and I know for a fact it doesn't cost 10.00 to ship one tea pot. Don't want to rain on your parade just want to make you aware. I also bounce between goodwill and ebay and yes I am a wicked sniper...............LOL Does anyone remember Andy's Warehouse Auction? It was run by Fingerhut no less..........oooooooooh the bargains I got there and their shipping was reasonable. How i miss them. There were a couple others but I don't remember the names. Sigh! Hmmmmmmmmm maybe I should google. Then there's freecycle.............I can't begin to tell you all the goodies I have gotten off there. Ok so I belong to 5 different ones.............:) I subscribe to all that are within a 50 mile radius and try to pick up two or more items on one trip if possible. Anybody watch the Junk Brothers? Boy would I like to find some of the loot they find. And that Workshop............ ChelCass

I remember those Burma Shave ads. I think of them as early flash cards for drivers. Now, if we can come up with some sort of "FLASH" or modern message to stop certain drivers to hang on my bumper,I'd be happy.

Grainlady, are you sure we aren't related somehow,? lol. My Mom and Dad were the worst for recipe filing. I have 3 buildings of recipes in boxes and trunks. I admit I am pretty bad myself,I have recipes all over the house and threaten to take down to the local copy/printer shop to have them copied on full sized sheet with protectors. It's funny when people ask me for my Pesto recipe, it's written with only the ingredients on the back of a small spiral note pad. I usually get a "your kidding me" remark. I wish I could find the recipe for Howard Johnsons Orange Corn Bread Cakes have never been able to find it on the net.
