New AC/Furnace Install Size Question

We are planning on installing a new ac and furnace. Main concern is the size difference of the units, from the two quotes. Both installers say (although we haven't yet seen) they did calculations to arrive at unit size.

House background: 1977ish Bi-level (or split level, depending upon your area). Main living floor is 1/2 story above grade and is ~1600 sq ft. Lower level is 1/2 story below grade and is ~400 sq ft (finished) and unheated 2 car garage. House has a flat roof with probably minimal insulation. We did have a roofing system put on which has a 4 to 1 slope composed of rigid styrofoam and is topped with a rubber membrane. All windows were replace in 2000 with double pane windows that are low E and have argon. We are in CO (5200 ft elevation). We don't typically run the ac much during the summer. Our current systems work 'fine', 120k btu original furnace, 3 ton ac (replaced swamp cooler in 1995). Household of two adults.

Quote 1:

Lennox G71MPP 95% efficient, 70k btu and XC14 2.5 ton AC

Quote 2:

Equinox (believed to be Goodman) GMV950905DXA 95% efficient, 92k btu and Equinox SSX160481A 3 ton AC.

Both also have humidifier, installation, etc. We liked the Lennox guy better than the other. Not to mention Lennox is about $14 grand cheaper and better rating on BBB.

Mainly concerned with the equipment size difference. I did do a heat loss/gain calc using hvac-talk software, but not sure if I did it properly. Heat loss came in at ~15 k and heat gain ~8k.

Any thoughts?
