Call the Sports Fashion Police!

This is so trivial, but I'm reeling: I just turned on the Indianapolis/Pittsburgh gameand thought I was watching a bunch of bumblebees running around!
Who hates the Pittsburgh Steelers that much as to have designed such an utterly hideous uniform, and what athlete would agree to wear it?

They look like jailbirds or bumblebees! That is THE ugliest team uniform I've ever seen.

Thank goodness I'm a Patriots fan!

I know, they are so ridiculous! I guess it must be their throwback uniform??? Poor guys.

Huge patriots fan here too...very happy with today's game! :D

Hahaha, Tibb. Just switched over and you are right! Of course, being a native Philadelphian, I welcome any opportunity to feel superior to Pittsburgh. ;)

Jack, I can understand why an anonymous note would make you uncomfortable, and I can also understand why you don't want to name the plant because it's irrelevant to the discussion. However, if it is on your state's noxious list, should you as a responsible citizen continue to offer it for sale? If it is not on the list then there's no issue. Here's what I would do. Print out the "Severe Threat" list for your state from the Invasives.org website Vaccinium provided, post it in a prominent location and post below it your "Company Policy" that your customers will never find one of these plants for sale at your nursery. How many of your customers have actually ever seen that list? And, how many confuse "invasive" with "aggressive spreaders or seeders"? You'll be educating them. If a customer questions the invasiveness of a plant you sell, you can show them the list and explain the difference. I have never seen and never expect to see Japanese Honeysuckle, Kudzu, Tree of Heaven, Mimosa, Common Privet, or Chinese Privet for sale at any nursery in the South. However, I have purchased Variegated Porcelain Berry and have it growing on an arbor. That plant is not on my state's invasive list, but is on "Watch List B, plants that are severe problems in surrounding states, but have not been reported in Tennessee". I'll watch it. Interestingly enough on "Watch List A: Exotic plants that naturalize and may become a problem in the future", among others are listed Buddleia, Cosmos, Rose of Sharon, Spearmint, Peppermint, and Grape Hyacinth. All of these are commonly found in every nursery and most gardens. Where do you draw the line? Do you refuse to sell any plant that is listed on not only the Severe Threat List, but also the lower threat lists the watch lists? That's your decision and your conscience.

hi I'm William McDonald, call me Bill, Don McDonald ismy father .First of all for Acey, a little history.My dad hand sculpted the very first of these lamps in the basement of our house on Bramble lane, Riverside Ct:Old Greenwich was just down the street.the first lamp was th "Scuba diver" lamp. he sculpted it in clay first made a sand cast mold of it cast it in white lead re fined the sculpture by grinding and filing(we didn't know about lead poisoning in the 60's)then cast it again in brass and again re sculpted it. so there is a lot of hand work in these lamps. The base is solid walnut, polished with fine steel wool and reddish brown shoe polish.your lamp was to sculpted the same way how ever no longer in the basement of our house (really stunk up the house.)you get a shade through www.wndesherbinin.com.My father , my brother my self and my mother all worked on these lamps...well this is totally amazing after close to 30 years I'm hearing about Donald W. McDonald sport lamps. This reminded me of an event that I still laugh about...about 8 years ago (and Madonna was "in") I went to a "outdoor barbeque's show" . One woman in line for the meal really got a lot of attention, and apparently it upset her. In fact she was right, people were talking about her. She turned around to people already seated in the benches with their dinner and said,"why are you all talking about me?" (she was in her I'd say early 40.s) I couldn't stand it any longer, so I told her, "if you didn't want all this attention you shouldn't have worn your bra on the outside of your tank top-so you must want the attention." True story. Now the tank and bra were both pastels...top blue, bra pink. Plus both were lacy...but it seems so strange for someone to get upset about what should be "common sense" to me...Any way she settled herself down. Just had to share.

Okay ladies, back again. I bought the blue, cold shoulder dress above shown at March 2, 2017 at 1:24PM. I have decided to wear shoes that I have, because they have a decently high heel (3 1/2") but are uber comfortable to walk, dance, etc. I also like tan as it lengthens the leg and they show it with a tan shoe. These are the shoes: I am debating now over a bag. I want something small-ish. It does not have to be matchy-matchy, but it should not clash either. What is throwing me is ... 1. Usually when I think of navy, I think navy and white, but that will clash w the shoe IMHO. So, for example, this is not a good choice: And this may also be too white for the shoes: 2. The dress is flouncy, so something very structured will look wrong IMHO, ie this is not a good choice: 3. This seems to tie the blue with the tan the best, but it feels a tad too casual... I am thinking the tassel is more flouncy in mood, or maybe go with the grey clutch and clearly be unmatched.

Someone just sent me the explanation. Yes! Coll, they are throwback uniforms, worn just for today's game.

Has it never dawned on them, in all these years, that that design likely came from the designer for their opponents! Lol.

Coll, blowout! And everyone was writing Mr. Bundchen's obit only a couple of weeks ago! Haha!

Pittsburgh here!!!!

Some people really like the throwback uniforms. I personally think they are hill-arious. But they certainly are confusing!! Those stripes are on zebras in the wild for a reason - it applies to the game as well.

It doesn't matter what they wear though. Yinzers don't be caring as long as its them Stillers.

But as soon as I saw the title of the post I absolutely knew what you were going to mention - watching the game now.

I think the Patriot throwback uniforms are sort of cute..I have a tee shirt with the retro logo. But I just can't believe the Steelers players are loving the bumble bee jailbird look! A lot of pro athletes seem to pride themselves on their fashion sense. But they are winning so probably don't care that much, this time.

tibbrix, yeas, LOVE seeing TB have that kind of game today. The offensive line sure stepped up and he looks very confident back there as a result. On to next week!!!

I have no idea what the uniform looks like, but I love bumblebees!

(So single minded and persistent. Industrious and focused, not easily angered, distracted or aggressive, cheerful!)

I can certainly see why Bumblebeez would love bumblebees. But football players looking like bumblebees is as ridiculous as bumblebees looking like football players!

MOST "Throwback Uniforms" are pretty homely!!!

* The Steelers...Oh dear God...those "Bumblebee" uni's actually hurt my eyes I believe!! Calling my Optometrist tomorrow...
* At least my MN Vikings (who WON in Tampa today!!!) throwbacks look like "normal" jerseys! They're a relatively "recent" team though, starting in 1961...like I did!
* The OLD Bears & Lions uni's are also pretty bad...
* CAN'T STAND the Patriots, but LOVE their 70's/80's Red jerseys with the White helmets, with the Minuteman/Center.

My Mom & I were just talking about those uniforms - Yellowjackets versus prison inmates. They might be ugly but they did swarm the Colts today.

Nothing at all against TB! I have no good reason! It's just the totally superficial "sports-team-hate" thing...:-)
I AM rather passionate about my NFL-stuff!!

Yeah...I'm no fan of the other 2 QB's you mentioned either! Bad off-field incidents/behaviours. I have NO respect for those 2. At least they're not as bad as the former Chargers QB Ryan Leaf! Good Lord, did he ever implode!! He was an A$$ to reporters, teammates, etc. Then the drug arrests...wow!

It seems like the older the NFL team, the WORSE the uni's were!

I saw them yesterday- and I thought they were cute and vintage looking. My husband, who never comments on fashion, kept commenting on how horrible the uniform was and kept making every wisecrack imagineable about them.
When I saw this thread topic and saw the date it originated, I had to look and see if it was referring to the :Stillers" unform.

I like them. Well, I like them way more than I like football. The only thing worse than a know it all announcer is when two of them get in a tiff. Drives me nutso!

Oh those uniforms were awful! I'm with lascatx's DH. I think the players should have just said NO to those uniforms. Ugly!
