You could be an umpire and wear dark glasses and carry a cane made for a blind person. That would go with a baseball player. I'm going as "Roberta the builder" (Bob the builder's sister). Last year I was a cat lady and had cat's eye glasses I bought on ebay and pinned a bunch of cat beanie babies all over my top. My hubby went as the Geico caveman last year. This year he's a wishnik troll. One year we were a pirate couple. Another year we were an egyptian queen and king. We have a costume party every year.

What if you and your DH went as The Honeymooners? Didn't Ralph & Ed bowl? He can do the whole bowling outfit thing, and you can do the '50's housewife thing, with a dress and pearls and an apron. Then you can carry around a moon and when the two of you are standing together, hold it up behind you and smooch. And he can say "to the moon Alice"

A clever idea I saw once was to be a "one night stand" by wearing something to simulate a table top around your neck and on your shoulders, adorned with an alarm clock, a book and reading glasses and a lamp shade on your head.

We were bikers a few years ago- complete with tatts( temp) shades, bandanas, ripped jeans, I had my hair teased up and had on a boatload of makeup. leather boots and jackets of course. Oh and we each carried around a 40.

Terriks, I won first prize when I dressed up like a table many years ago. Only I glued place settings and used the head sized lamp shade as a vase with fake flowers. That said, it would be almost impossible to function as a host in that get-up.

I like Cooper's idea! That would be a hoot! Or maybe you could dress up like PeeWee Herman style nerds or Austin Powers?

A friend of mine made a 'Slut Machine' costume -- think slot machine box over fishnets and FM stilettos.

Another year, a group of frineds went as the Addams family. She was Cousin It, made with Hawaiian hula skirts.

I had a guy friend who wore a gift box complete with a bow and a tag that read "To Women, From God." I thought it was pretty cute, "God's gift to Women".

One year a bunch of friends got together and dresses as a tribe of cave people. We were something! Ratty hair, blackened teeth. We went to an office party and no one recognized us - AND we all worked there!

DH and I seldom have coordinating costumes. Once we were Ceasar and Cleopatra, but we usually go our own way with our costumes.

Last year, I was a geisha. Year before, a flapper. I've also been a goth chick, a Greek goddess, Maid Marian, a bar wench, a woodland fairy (wings at a party are a PITA), the woman from the cover of a trashy romance novel, and various other characters.

This year I'm either going as a green witch (long green gown, pointy shoes, big green witch hat), or as the diva from a German opera (long white gown with a golden bodice, long blonde braids, enormous Viking hat complete with horns). Full figured women make great divas. ;-)

My best friend is going as Little Red Riding Hood. We're making her costume - just a long skirt, white blouse with peter pan collar, long red hooded cloak (thank you Goodwill) and a red-lined basket to hang over her arm.

One year I went as a saloon girl, a rabbi, a scarecrow. The scarecrow was pretty cool, as I used a old type drapery rod that went through the back of my arms and shoulder of the plaid shirt looking like I was hanging like a scarecrow. And since I am Italian I went as a gangster with machine gun and pinstripped suit and cool 1930's hat with man's pointed shoes, I bought at a cheap cheap second hand store for a song.

Think about doing something that is in the news now. And I can't think of anything. Remember the tylenol scare back in the eighty's? Well, my sister went as a tylenol capsule, it was a work of art and they put her picture on the news at the halloween parade in West Hollywood. You should see the costumes there, those people work on their costumes all year I bet.

My niece went as Michael Jackson when he was arrested back in the early ninty's and she looked just like him, it was a killer costume. Excuse the pun! I still have the MJ hat with curly hair hanging out the sides.

The salon girl costume was rented and we all (six) of us rented a Royce Rice with a driver back in the seventy's. Those were the days and I still love Hallween.

Black fingernails, long black coat/duster, long/black-hair wig...and maybe the Ozzy-style glasses?! Aaaannndd...I could just walk around and mumble!!
(S'pose I'd have to be careful with certain necklaces...hee-hee!...evil laugh there!!)

OR...get the KISS "Demon" makeup goin'?!?!? I AM 6'3", so it'd be fun scarin' the H*ll out of kids/Old ladies!!

I was thinking that Michaele Salahi, the night she crashed the White House party, would be a great costume! EVERYONE saw those pictures!

I made some red cylinders out of posterboard and made them into caps. Then I cut out these big Mc logos and wrote cinnamon on one, cloves, pumpkin pie, etc on the others and some coworkers and I hung the signs around our necks. We were the Spice Girls. Get it? McCormick spices?

yeah had a blast being a biker chick and it was easy- black leggings, black tank, top leather jacket leather boots bandana, ratted up hair lots of makeup fake harley tatts chain belt. I asked our policeman friend what the girls dressed like. Nothing to get in the way of normal movement.

funny thing we were practicing our bad to the bone personas as we were walking down the street after dark to the party, swigging out of our 40s and walking like bad a$$es. An elderly woman saw us out of her front door, and as I was about to reassure her that it was just us -sure that we looked legit and scary, she called to her husband- Albert come quick and see Sue and Ron, they are so cute!!
so much for being bad to the bone..of course who ever sees bikers without their Harleys?

How about you going as a Gena Davis type in that baseball movie with Tom Hanks " A League of their Own" Wearing a short baseball type skirt with high knee socks with saddle shoes, really sex it up. You have the time to make or find the outfit.

Thanks everyone for all the fun ideas. For a while there I was considering having DH be a king and I'd be a court jester. But, the party is on a Fri. night, which makes prep a little more tricky, decided to keep things simple also since we're hosts... so we are going to be the Skipper (DH) and Gilligan (me) from Gilligan's Island.

That is the best idea yet! Now you owe us pictures, you know...
