cast iron vs. welded steel vs. aluminum/copper

Hello!

Much as we'd like to have cast iron radiators (or baseboards) everywhere, it seems, the choices of shapes just aren't there with this material... Runtal and Jaga (to name just a few) offer a dazzling array of radiators, but they aren't made of cast iron :-(

So, we've come to consider Runtal's steel ones for a few spaces in the house, and want to know, how much worse it it compared to cast iron?

We want the heating elements to be highly inert  slow to heat up, slow to cool down  so that the heat in the room does not jump up and down abruptly when the thermostat turns on and off.

We understand, that steel is somewhere between aluminum and cast iron in this respect, but don't know where... Is it about equidistant from each, or is it almost as good as cast iron, or almost as bad as aluminum? Thanks! Yours,
doofus
