rikerk, I have the paneled Jenn-Air warming drawer as well. It sits perfectly flush, though the cabinetry is bumped out 2.5" in that location. See below for a thread from last winter containing a ton of information on warming drawers, including flush mounting.

It's really hard to tell from your picture, but what kind of wood is around the oven now? Where are the stiles? Taking another photo with flash showing the wood lines would help me a lot, along with sizes of the current oven, the warmer, how much space needs to be between them, and the dimensions of the available space.

Probably should ask if you build much?

The oven cabinet is made of maple. I should mention that I DON'T plan to do this myself. I will have the contractor that did the existing kitchen do the construction. I just have to have a plan ahead of time. Are stiles the strip of wood that runs vertical? If so I don't have any stiles. This is the info I sent to the kitchen designer, but I haven't heard back yet. I will try to get a better photo posted later

I would like to add a warming drawer with a custom panel right below the oven and then change the bottom doors to a draw unit or shorter doors. I have 26" from the bottom of the oven to the bottom of the doors. Is the custom panel for the warming drawer just a draw front or is it made differently? I have attached the jenn air specs for the warmer & a photo of the oven cabinet. I was going to have the contractor remove part of the attached filler that is showing to make room for the drawer. If I understand correctly I need 2.5" at the base of oven where the black strip is then a 9 1/8" opening then atleast 2.5" filler then the draw or doors. I probably also need a solid shelf for the draw to rest on.

By draw, do you mean drawer? I don't know anything about warming drawers, but from viewing the photo on the linked thread, it looks like the front panel is the same as your other drawer panels. So whoever made them can make one to fit the warming drawer front.

You didn't attach any specs that I can see, but if your oven and the warming drawer are anything like my ovens, the minimum clearance between units is 3 inches.

In your photo, it looks like your wall oven has sheetrock around it instead of cabinetry. But that could just be the photo.

It also looks like there is a big amount of wasted space between the top two drawers and the oven, as well as below the oven. I think that's why it looks so unfinished. Is there anything behind there in those spaces?

Yes, the stiles are the verticals and the rails are the horizontals. In most cabinets they are 1x2's. But no matter what that carcass is made of, your oven will have to be pulled out so support rails can be installed for the warming drawer, and cleats for drawer hardware below.

Can you move the oven up under the upper doors, or is it too high to get things in & out of the oven? I'd either move the oven up, or add a drawer there, just to avoid that blank space.

No matter what the current cabinet carcass is built out of, it can probably be rebuilt, but it might be cheaper to have your cabinet maker build a new unit since that can be done at his shop, which will be faster than coming to your house to rebuild, or remove and take to his shop to rebuild.

He can always reuse the doors he has already built too.

Sorry, I'm not more help. Just too many unknowns to give a good answer.

Marti8a sorry I have no access to a photo right now. However, yes I did mean drawer. The specs for the oven call for 2" between the oven and a warming drawer. The warming drawer specs call for 2.5" between the two units.
My oven cabinet doesn't have any sheetrock. It is a standard single wall oven cabinet made by shrock, but the cabinet looks unfinished with all of the open space above and below. I can't move the oven up because it will be to high for me and a draw above is also to high.
Behind the blank space below the oven is a big hollow space and is accessible from the doors below.
changing the cabinet is not a possibility the cabinets were just installed in July and that is the only area I am unhappy with. Mainly cosmetics.

Who designed that cabinet? Why weren't the upper and lower cabinets built with doors to fit the size to begin with?

Since you aren't going to be doing the work yourself, I'd just call and get estimates on rebuilding the cabinet. If you don't want to consider a new cabinet, I assume it's because you don't want the cabinet pulled out?

Someone will have to pull the oven out to get to the inside of the cabinet, and then depending on how well the cabinet was built, they might have to do all the following:

Take out/cut out the plywood (I assume it's plywood) on the face frame of the cabinet between the current oven and the lower cabinet opening. It will be glued, possibly have biscuits set in, and nailed with a brad nailer and those nails are extremely difficult if not impossible to pull out. They will probably have to be nipped off and filed down. All that will probably cause some splintering of the stiles and rails.

Then, to get to the inside of the carcass to install the warmer and the drawer you want, they will have to take out the plywood separating the bottom cabinet from the oven cavity. It will probably be set into a rabbet, glued, and nailed, so will have to be sawed into pieces and then pried out.

Then everything else is done while either hanging inside the upper opening or wedged into the bottom opening.

Next, they will have to install new rails for the drawer and the warmer and they will have to install drawer guides, and possibly cleats for them on the sides of the carcass, as well as supports for the warmer.

Holes will have to be drilled for the electrical, but that's the easy part. Then an electrician will do his/her part.

They will have to replace the plywood that was taken out under the oven, only it needs to be replaced below the warmer now so a support will have to be built for it since it can't be rabbeted in.

Then, drawer and drawer fronts made and you're good to go.

If you do all that, you might consider putting a false drawer front above the top oven, or even creating a space there to store trays or long boxes of aluminum foil, and hinge the drawer front from the top to make it easier to see what's inside.

I've only hit the highlights, but if I or my dh were doing this in our own kitchen, words would be said that are seldom said.

If you will let someone pull out the cabinet and work from the back, it will be soooo much easier, and therefore cheaper for you.

Then simply tell him waht you want and let him figure out how to accomplish it.

A word of advice - forget the wood paneled warming drawer!

They are a real bear to design and implement- even for those experienced with fully integrated appliances. It's not for the novice or those that don't obsess over the little details.

Have the oven raised up and add a stainless warming drawer just below. The hardest part will be getting a dedicated electrical circuit into the cabinet.

Have a drawer and drawerhead of any style you like made for the space where the doors are now and you're on your way.

I was working under the assumption that you wanted to fix the part over the oven too.

If your electrician can get to everything he needs, half the stuff I said above wouldn't be necessary.

Someone could remove everything on the face frame below the rail under the oven and work totally from below. It will still be a pain, but if they can strip out everything there, it gives easier access.

The electrical will not be a problem at all. The electrical panel is in the basement directly below the wall oven cabinet and one of my employees is an electrician. Good idea about a false draw on hinges above for wraps or stuff. If the warming drawer turns out to be to much trouble I could just do false drawer fronts above and below.

True, and that would be the easiest way. Sorry to be so negative; I'm in the middle of rebuilding cabinets and it's just a big pain.

If I had seen this question last month, my attitude would probably be a lot more optimistic.

I was able to find the specs online for my oven cabinet and how much I am able to trim the open space. The current oven space in 28" H and it is able to be made as large as 43.5" H. So if I just uninstall the oven and raise the oven 6" I can install the warming drawer directly below the oven separated by a small filled. That way I won't have to mess with the bottom cabinet area. The electrical is simple enough. So I think this will work & give the cabinet a much better look. Thanks for the suggestion to move the oven up. I thought it would be too high, but after measuring it seems fine. I also have a second oven in the GE Cafe range that we have. I think it is probably best for me to stick with the GE warming drawer so that the handles match.
