We love it....now watching all the old episodes of the Monk series - no cost, no commercials.

WE had it but got rid of it and Hulu because neither offered enough movies with closed captioning. They are under federal regulations stating they have to offer closed captioning but they have not added it to most of their movies. My DH had moderate hearing loss so closed captioning is a must.

Once the companies fall in line with the federal regulations, we will look at hiring them again.

We used to have it and I'm thinking of getting it again. The movies come quickly when you mail them back. I've also placed a couple in my mailbox to send back and they never made it back to Netflix. They never charged me for those movies. The only negative is to make it worth it you have to send them back quickly and watch them soon after getting them. Sometimes our movies would sit around for weeks before we found the time to watch them, making it not quite worth it. The more movies you watch over a month's time the cheaper it is.

I love Netflix. I have the streaming membership (no mail-in DVDs), and really enjoy being able to watch movies and (more often) TV shows at my own convenience and pace, without commercials. It's my favorite way to watch television.

I have it to watch, no dvd's. Some month I watch it more than others.

Overall, best choice in price for me.

We had it for about a year and if you've ready Kathsgarden, you can put my name on it. They do come very quickly.

We have the dvd/blu ray part. I turn on the closed captioning on my blu-ray player, works great.

I have both..I am horrible about getting a movie in and it sitting here for weeks before I get around to watching it..so it does cost me more that way. But I put a DVD in the mail on Monday and I usually have my new one by Wed. So fast turn around. Love the streaming..if nothing is on TV then I can usually find something to watch. Right now son has the Wii in his room and he has been watching a series from A&E.

I don't know of any negatives to using Netflix, have been using it daily for the last 8 years. It's the best deal around.

How do you stream Netflix movies to your tv? I am going to buy a new tv and I wondered if there is any particular feature I need.

I just hook my laptop to my TV via a HDMI cable, and watch on the BIG screen. :)

I have it. There's really nothing negative for me. The only negative is if you don't use it, you are throwing money away. I do the live streaming more often in the summer when I'm camping. I order the DVD's in the winter. I've thought about stopping it for a bit but decided that I break about even considering that I would still get movies but would have to pay for each individually. So, I guess you would need to decide if it would pay for you.

Dedtired, I've been looking at new TVs, too, and noticed many of them come fully equipped to stream Netflix without any additional equipment. I was using a Roku box, but recently my son hooked the TV up to a spare computer and I play the movies and shows right from Netflix.com.

Dedtired, you need a "Smart TV", one with Wifi integrated into it from the factory. Otherwise you would need an attachment like a Roku, or a gaming system.

I have it....in Canada. Not nearly as good of a selection as the American Netflix:(.

We have it, no DVDs, love it. I watch on the IPad, we have Roku for the tvs. We don't have enough receivers for Directv for the number of televisions, old house, so Netflix is perfect for guest rooms, etc.

What's not to love? Try it out. It's not exactly a big investment, they'll prorate by the month, try it, it's easy to change your plan or cancel if you don't like it.

I had both streaming and dvds from Netflex. I discontinued dvds, since there are so many movies to see on streaming. I also got tired of walking the dvds to the mailbox in the cold weather.

I own 4 Rokus--one for each TV set. It is great to see TV series without commercials. My family uses Netflix every night, since we do not have cable television available to us in the country.

We stream Netflix and love it. We watch movies every weekend and enjoy documentaries and TV series, too. We pay less than $8.00 a month for unlimited use.

We watch on our large TV screen, but could watch on the Kindle or computer.

Cookie you're right, our Netflix sucks. We watched a free preview and I would never pay for it.

Thanks for the tips about the tv. I need to get out and finally buy one. My biggest stumbling block is how to get rid of my big Sony tv that works perfectly well.

I have been watching Breaking Bad and Homeland on DVDs on my laptop. The laptop also keeps me warm while watching shows during the winter!

Dedtired, Craigslist if you want to get (a little) money for it, or Salvation Army for a tax deduction. I know S.A. picks up furniture; not sure about TVs.

One con is if you have a capped internet service. Not very many people do, but if you have satellite or cell service for your internet, you will use up your monthly allotment quickly.

My internet is certainly fast enough to stream video - but about 3 movies would completely fill my data cap for the month :(

If anyone is interested in a site to watch just tv shows (no movies), viptv.net is a good one. You buy "points" and spend your points on each episode. The more you buy at a time the better the deal you get. We've been using this site forever. We just put $100 on our account and got 2000 points. Each show is 2 points, so we now can watch 1000 episodes before we need to refill. 1000 episodes will probably take us a couple of years to get through. Their selection of available shows is enormous.

Over Christmas, we were visiting family in Connecticut, and one evening right as dinner was nearly finished their son had a sledding accident and had to go to the emergency room for stitches. They suggested that we watch a movie on NetFlix while they were off at the hospital. We thought of 10 somewhat recent movies that we might want to watch. None were available via streaming. We thought of 10 more not-recent-at-all movies, none were available. We finally found some website that had a list of the 50 best movies that actually are available through NetFlix, about 48 of them either we had already seen, or we had no interest in.

Additionally we were frustrated by their search interface: we initially searched for Casino Royale, and it returned the 1969? film of the same name, followed by page after page of other movies that happened to mention Casino or Royal somewhere in their title, or description, or synopsis. Eventually I figured out that they were just trying to avoid calling attention to their less-than-full-coverage of the movie spectrum, by returning any match on the supplied search, no matter how irrelevant that movie might be, and in general guiding you toward the browse interface.

If you are into Netflix, check the website www.instantwatcher.com. There you can find the latest streaming movies being added and movies being deleted. If you click on one of the movies, you can add the movie directly to your Netflix queue without being at the Netflix web site.

Our BluRay here at the condo is set up for Netflix but we've never used it. I should look again at the titles offered. When we bought the BluRay and I looked, my experience was like Bob's; we'd already seen or were not interested in ANY of the titles offered. Maybe that's changed?

We watch a lot of British TV series. Our library at home has tons and the most recent years released. I noticed that the series offered on Netflix were very outdated.

How would you add subtitles to a movie that doesn't offer the option? Or, can you only do that on BluRay if the movie HAS them, but Netflix isn't providing them? (That sounds clear as mud, but I hope you understand what I'm asking.)
