BM Dove White vs. White Dove...same color or different?

I see people refer to the BM color in both ways. Are there 2 different colors or are they the same color?

I'm not entirely sure they are the same color but I assume so. Plain and Fancy, the manufacturer of my painted white cabinets, calls the color Dove White. I don't know if the paint they use is BM or whether it's just a white-gray paint that is similar to BM's White Dove. I've switched back and forth between the two names when referencing my cab color on this forum. I'm probably not the only one who does that.

The BM Classics and Preview fan packs have a color called White Dove. They also have a color called Dove Wing below White Dove on the same color strip. Neither of those fan packs has a color called Dove White. I often refer to the color I painted my cabinets as "White Dove/Dove White, whateever (!) I can't remember which order it should be!" What I don't know is whether another company may use the same name to describe a different color.

We have samples of these on our house right now. Alabaster is in the left and White Dove is on The right (all under the right window). The paint swatches look similar but IMO they cool completely different when painted. Alabaster looks more like a true white and White Dove has more of a creamy undertone. I preferred White Dove when the sun was directly on the house but when I went back throughout the day, I definitely liked Alabaster the best. My recommendation would be to get samples of both and paint large samples to be able to compare.

I would bring sample paint chips to where your slab is (paint chips or sample cabinet doors with your chosen paint on it). The lighting will most likely be different there than your home light, but it should give you a good idea of how the colors blend together. I would also try to get a sample of your slab and bring it home along with your sample paint chips/cabinet doors. I would not automatically paint your cabinets the color of your home doors and trim because unless you’ve matched up your slab to the color of your home trim, you could be making a huge mistake. It’s a lot easier to paint the trim in your kitchen to match up with your cabs and slab than to have to repaint your cabinets should you find that when the slab goes in there’s a terrible clash.

I have ordered custom cabinets that will be painted in BM Oxford white. We are thinking of painting the walls in BM white dove. Will the two colors go together? Yes, they go together for two reasons. White Dove belongs to the Yellow hue family and Oxford belongs to the Green-Yellow hue family; they're far enough apart in terms of hue but not too close together. Secondly, there's enough difference in Chroma between the two that one won't make the other look dirty or dingy. White Dove will actually make Oxford White look cleaner, crisper and more white. If this works should we also paint the trim in oxford white? Trim, doors, cabinets should all be the same color of white. You should wait for your cabinets and then have your trim/door product color matched to whatever version of Oxford White they turn out to be. Because the cabinet maker is probably color matching to Oxford White best he can in whatever product he's using. It's unlikely your cabinets will match an Oxford White paint chip spot-on.

I'm guessing that P&F has a licensing agreement with BM on use of their paint as well as for use of a paint name so similar to "White Dove" that the association is made but not explicitly stated.
