Anyone here still using Byetta for Diabetis?

I'm curious, anyone still using Byetta for their Diabetes? I used it for a time in 2008, and had good results with my blood sugars and weightloss, but I had to stop because it was so expensive, even with our co-pay, it put us in the "donut hole" in August that year. Lately I've been seeing commercials from Ambulance Chasers AKA Lawyers, asking if anyone had, or known someone who has had health issues or even death from using this drug. I Googled Byetta and there were a number of hits about the side effects from this drug. If your are still taking it, have you had any problems? Just wondering. Dottie

I only used it for a month...didn't like messing with it.

I used it for about 8 months with great results. I quit because it suddenly started making my blood sugar go very low - in the high 30's, low 40's range. That was scary. And I was eating my carbs. I have just talked to my doctor about going back on it, but staying with the 5 instead of moving to the 10. Hadn't heard about any lawsuits. Thanks for the info.

Years ago my ex mother-in-law had a cone shaped stainless steel one with a wood pestle and it did a wonderful job on making tomato juice. Recently, I got back into canning and was searching madly for one of these. I found the sieve in an antique shop but it did not have the wood pestle and I found one of these on ebay. All together, it cost me approximately $16.00 which is a bargain considering new they cost around $40.00. A used one can be found on ebay including the wood pestle for around $25.00. I highly recommend searching antique stores though as the cost will be lower. I personally would not want to do without one of these when making juice. :)

marti8a I am sure there will be updates from CNet on this issue and probably in most major publications as well. It had even hit our local news so this is something most people are probably aware of by now. I'll post when I hear/read about a fix but I'm sure you can find it on whatever your own news choices are, too.

None of my business and this is not what you are asking and you probably love it so ignore my comment. Would you consider getting rid of that wall paper border above your cabinets? Your backsplash, flooring, counters, and DR paint colours are all colours of now - and everything flows really nicely. You've done a great job of keeping the Baltic Brown current (I thing it looks great in your space) and putting the Black Galaxy on the peninsula would be cool. I'm just wondering though , is that a black appliance by the peninsula? Would it clash? I can't tell what that is. The green above your cabinets is feeling really heavy. The green around the archway is better and maybe without the border it would be ok. It's just feeling an dlooking really 80"s. Sorry.

I'm back....exhausted but back. Also partly brain dead, but had a GREAT time at ebay live!! I would say to keep costs down somewhat pick say 5 items & let each girl do 3, soap plus 2 others. While the lotion/shampoo bases are not expensive, bottles & scent DOES get expensive. YOU & your daughter could always pre make a couple small things like a smelly jelly for each girl, & a small container of bath tea. (make a big batch & split it among them) It may get a bit hairy with a bunch of girls all working on 5-6 different things at a time, & making sure they don't use too much scent may be a hard thing to keep up with. If each gilr picks a single scent, you could pre measure out what they need for all 3 projects in advance, so there is no waste & they can't get into too much trouble with the scent. (At that age-if a little is good a lot will be GREAT seems to apply to everything.....food, perfume, boys etc.....LOL!!) Hope this makes sense...I've been home for about 2 hours & beens answering email, checking auctions & trying to post on this board & the auction posting board....generally get caught up......haven't even unloaded the car....... anyway, I'll be around. May be w/o the computer for about 1Â½ days while it gets new guts......end of the week or beginning of next week......they were SUPPOSED to do it while I was gone........ Hazel

I am still using it. I have been on it since June of 2008. I have had great results from it. I have lost over 22 pounds (25+ BEFORE the holidays! LOL) I have figured out the best way for it to work for me. I take it about 10-15 minutes before I eat, then I have to have something, like pretzels or a yogurt, about an hour after my meal...when you can start 'crashing'. If I wait any longer to eat, it doesn't seem to have the curbing effect for me....which I LOVE! I see the Dr. every 3-4 months, and she is very cautious of everything I am on....working HARD to get my tri's down to a "normal" (which will NEVER be for me (I would be happy with below 275!)...it's a family thing, and we are all struggling!) reading!

I have been using Byetta since September 2008...and have lost weight...maybe 50 lbs. The first months were difficult, with the nausea, but carrying that weight was really getting me down. I have back surgery in a week or so, so I am doubly glad that I stayed with it and am going into the surgery minus those pounds. I have always had lows...rarely high-highs, and fasting and anesthia are troubling but will talk to the anestheist today.Cholestrol is also not an easy fix but a work in progress. From most of the meds I suffer side effects...trying oatmeal as of today.

I took Avandia for 10 years, suffering a multitude of side effects...and gaining 10 lbs+ a year...so I am grateful for the newer fixes...like Byetta. I have not heard of the serious side effects...but will check it out. Nanny

I'm still taking it as well, started about the same time Sandy did. I have not trouble with it other than rembering to take it for the past week or two.

I've been on Byetta the 10 and love it. Yes, I had lots of nausea in the beginning, but have lost 11 pounds in the 3 months that I have been on it.
I did read up on the side effects and the "dangers", but my blood sugar and weight were going to kill me first!
Planning on staying on it indefinitely.

Dad was on it before Sandy started it, I'm not sure when he started on it. He is still taking it, with no problems. I don't remember him mentioning any side effects like nausea, either. He is also on pills for the diebetes and his heart, plus insulin also.

Thanks, gang, for the info. I was just wondering if it had been pulled. I guess someone died and it was supposed to have been cause by Byetta and the lawyers jumped on the "sue" bandwagon. I wish I could have stayed on it, but probably best I didn't, because I have compromised kidneys. I did lose 12 lbs in the six weeks I was on it, which.....mmmmmmm, have returned. Dottie
