In the eleven years I've been with aol, I've never ever gotten a real scam anything before. After thinking about it for a while, I remember I used to see those "Aol will NEVER request billing information" notices, but it's been forever since I've seen anything like that so it didn't really register that it might be a scam to me at first. But then I also do not use my Master Screen Name at all anymore and you have to be signed on under that to even just view your billing info and this email came to Remuda1 not my Master name. Anyway, it was all a little *phishy* so I'm very glad I investigated it further. I guess I've just gotten a little complacent since I've never had any trouble before. Usually, if I get an email from an unknown, I just send it straight to the "report spam" place so I really don't get much spam at all anymore. Just wanted to get the word out there. Would hate for anyone to be taken in by this. Kristi

if you are cashing the checks, then they can't get your account info. be careful what you allow to be written on the check though, don't let them write your SS# on it. if you deposit a check, then yes it is possible to get your account info. if noone has contacted you, then you don't know what they bought. i would send the check back myself, with a note to contact you if they wish to purchase something as the only thing you had for sale at that price has been sold.

I get that often - it seems the hackers can get as far as ID'ing email addy's of those who make a payment, then I get this spam right away sometimes. They've not cracked my paypal yet because I just trash that stuff, mark it spam, and ignore it. If I have any paypay or banking concerns I always log into my proper website like paypal or my bank directly - NEVER respond to any of these 'phishing' emails. Don't even open them. Your bank would never send you an email, only written documents in the post or post the message on your account message board to read after you log in. This has been around for years. But good to remind folk to keep on their radar to IGNORE, DELETE UNOPENED.

Jannie, Three ... Billion?? Boy - you must really rate: I think that about the highest of several hundred offers that have come to me is about 50 million. I was thinking a while ago that if I added them all up, that they might come to about a billion ... or is it about a billion as my share? Imagine how much an 80-year-old would have to spend daily to go through it all, prior to death! Of course ... one could leave some to loved ones ... charities ... "widows and orphans", etc. ole joyful
