Steel cut oats

I knew these oats were supposed to be the best for you as opposed to instant, quick or even regular oats (cholesterol lowering, etc), but I never saw them for sale at the grocery.

Well, I recently found them at a local "bulk food store" that carries a lot of other unique items, too.

I really like the steel cut oats. They do take longer to cook but I think they are worth it. I pour boiling water over my oats (with added cinnamon, raisins, & sweetener) then let them set, covered, for 1/2 hour or so. Then I nuke them in the microwave for about 4 minutes total & let them set for another 10 minutes of longer. MMMmmmm gooooood!! They have a lower glycemic index than other oats too, so that is beneficial & they satisfy hunger longer.

Anyone else eat steel cut oats?

Do you use them in other recipes? Share?
