If the room is small you could put a large mirror. We had 2 wolf pictures before. Now we have space, no wall.

mine is not against a wall, behind my couch is a walk way and the glass doors into the atrium.

Do you mean like art work, or a sofa table behind it, or something like that?
In one of my houses where the couch did back to a wall I had a narrow long sofa table behind it with some display items and a lamp and a plant, plus it gives a good place to put coasters for them to sit their drinks.

I got windows behind the sofa. Nothing else needed. :)

The sofa is against a large wall....pretty much has to be here, so I need something on the wall. No sofa table here, I have one behind my love seat in the same room. I don't know what I want...artwork/photos/mirror/mirrors. I was just looking for ideas from what YOU have on your wall behind your sofa....IF you have a wall! LOL

My sofa and loveseat aren't against the wall in my living room. The sectional downstairs is and I have a set of 4 pictures above it on the one wall, a window is on the other side.

I don't know your decor, but I imagine you already have some framed pictures and/or art in the room. I talked a friend of mine into getting some metal art (similar to what is in the link) to hang above her sofa and it looks very nice. Lots of large metal art can be found much cheaper at places like Marshall's. My friend paid about $40. for hers.

Funny, I was just thinking about this last night. Between the windows in back of my sofa is a painting of Mia and Mystic, two cats we had in the early 1990s, done by Judith Hunt (a gift from the artist). I was thinking of using it in another room, but I'm not sure what I'd put in its place.

A more pressing problem is what to do with the mirror that will come off the opposite wall when my TV is mounted. It's too big to go behind the sofa, and besides, it wouldn't reflect anything I'd like to see repeated. :-)

Nothing on ours. The couch is up against the stair wall, so it's a small piece of triangular-shaped wall.

If there was a large wall there, I'd put up two large pieces of artwork, probably nature-inspired.

I wish I could take credit for putting the piano windows in. The builder could have put in a large window but with the piano windows they let in a lot of light and they are up high enough for privacy.

I have a bay window behind my sofa

I just bought a stick-on wall decal of a large tree with birds sitting on the branches for the guest room. I haven't tried putting it yet, but I like that it was inexpensive and when I'm tired of it I just peel it off and toss. Wall words are popular now, too.

Patti43, may I ask where you got the wall decal? I've seen some that are pretty interesting.

Chesterfield takes up a substantial portion of the wall, with an end table and a rocker at one end and smallish TV on a stand at the other.

There are small, high windows near either of the walls leading into adjoining rooms, and between is a large framed painting of an agricultural scene, western-based, I think. I think that it was painted by uncle's nephew-in-law, many years before his niece, my sister and her hubby, who lived in eastern Saskatchewan, broke up.

I have a light fixture so it doesn't leave room for much else without looking crowded. In my old apartment I had a large, framed print that matched the couch.

NOT the right color but this is what is up. I hung it about a year ago and wished I'd went with something else. I ordered it online from Kohl's and didn't realize it would be too matchy matchy with the wall color.

I have four ( I think) old concrete leveler thingies mounted on old weathered boards hanging above my couch. I also have a big piece of rusted metal grate and my railroad switch box numbers. Why? I don't know - I just like them! LOL

I also know that they're hanging waaaay too high above the couch but I don't want my DH whacking his head against them! LOL

I have two loveseats, no couch. Behind the one is my front window. Behind the other is an original water colour painting of a thunderbird. On each side of the painting is a glass plate that I put collages on with a Native look to them. I went through a cut magazine up and paste to glass period...... I don't like mirrors in the living room. I've never understood why people do that.

Just a large window (almost the width of the sofa) with drapes usually pulled because otherwise it's too much glare on the TV.

No wall here either. My sofa is the partition between my dining room and my living room. It faces the fireplace. The picture window has chairs up against it so a person can walk up to it and see the woods beyond the yard.

we have a huge triple window which the sectional is in front of...on one side are the dreaaded family photos, graduation from hs...the other section is what i call my "black wall" everything has a touch of black or has a black frame...from hand prints done at preschool to a black glass invitation to the opening of a hotel in vegas, now gone (my dad recieved it)

Our upstairs living room (now the dining room) had a gianormous elaborately framed mirror, and two oblong matted pictures.

Downstairs (above a shelf that is at about half height and goes all the way around the room), we have a sculpted wood tree with burnished metal leaves. There are also matching metal cut-out stars and a moon placed here and there on the wall.

I love both, but the pictures would have needed updating (if we hadn't converted it to a dining room). The colours are slightly outdated, and feature hummingbirds and flowers. I've moved to victorian flowers. I still adore the wood/metal tree though.

In our formal living room it is an air brushed portrait of 3 koi and Japanese characters for Fire, Air and Water.

In the family room there are 2 of a numbered and signed set of wildlife prints.

Would love to see the Koi paintings Lynn. I love Koi!
