Gas or Dual Fuel 30' Range
Comments (7)Nope no self clean, "minimal electronics/electrical" or what ever you wish to call it, but frankly that is one of the things I liked about it. I have never used the self clean feature on any stove I have ever owned in the last 35 years so obviously that meant nothing to me. The Bertazzoni I have no first hand knowledge of, just going on what I have read here and elsewhere and have seen very few complaints about them, most people that own them seem to like them. Same for the NXR, in fact I have only seen one complaint about the NXR ranges and that one was because of the shipping not the stove itself. I seriously doubt you would have ANY repair bills for a decade or two let alone "huge ones" with either of these ranges, they are both mostly mechanical operation without a "ton of features" which is usually where the "huge repair bills" come from. One reason we went with gas, other than the obvious that they are just way better than standard electric ranges is that if and or when the power goes out for a long period of time like in a Hurricane or Ice storm type thing we can still cook just fine. Just have to light it with a match is all....See MoreGas stove-slide-in or stand alone, convection?
Comments (5)Msmagoo (love the name)-we are in the midst of a new build and I am converting from gas to electric as well AND convection. I will tell you what I hope to achieve but I'm not there yet myself. I am hoping that gas will give me a true simmer - low low heat so I can keep something warm but not burn it. I am also hoping that it will heat more quickly than my old smooth top electric. From the research I've done it seems gas is easier to control. Convection: I am also a baker. I would love to bake more than one tray of cookies at once without having to rotate. In fact I have only tried rotating once because I was trying to save time and I hated it - how much heat do you lose continually opening the oven! I also dream of putting rolls in the oven while the main dish bakes and not have them burnt to the pan, lol. Duel fuel: :( I was hoping to get the Bosch 700 dual fuel (not solely because it's dual fuel but because it has had strong reviews) but ended up with an all gas range (KA). DH is thrilled as he thought it was completely absurd to run both gas and electric. I still think it would be wise to do both just in case. I think all gas for baking should be fine - especially with convection. edit: We are going with a slide in - for looks and to keep ick from sliding down between it and the side of the cupboards. My 2 boys are enjoying learning to cook and there have been plenty of egg and pancake batter drips that I hope to avoid! We won't be in until spring so I won't be able to try it out for months but I am looking forward to it! Good luck! Comments (9)I don't have a Bosh but I do have a duel fuel, here are my few words of advice: Other than the normal, it cooks faster and cools down faster deal, I've found that when cooking spaghetti noodles or something that tends to stick out of the pan, you need to use the burner that is a tad smaller than your pan or you're food will get burnt on the ends sticking out. Other than that, I love my gas cooking. I grew up with it and it doens't scare me at all. I'm still getting use to my oven. It cooks a little on the slow side, so when things say 8 - 10 min, I cook almost the full 10.... but thats okay. I rarely use my "speed" cooking, just forget about it. Plus mine tends to be a little loud because of the fan running. Hope you enjoy! Christy...See MoreDual Fuel Range, or Gas with Air Fry
Comments (7)Do you really want the gas cooktop? I've not had induction, but I'm pretty well sold on moving from a gas cooktop to induction, and my next range will be induction (even though I'm well satisfied with my current dual fuel). My current dilemma is whether to replace my fully functional dual fuel cafe in my current remodel, or to reuse the duel fuel until it dies and then replace with the induction....See Morebluetea57
