Ann, I love Wickles! I use to buy them from a local pickle maker who sold out his recipe to this larger company. I will tell you my dirty little secret as they are more expensive than the local guy was--not terrible--but we eat these way too much and I exceed my pickle budget. I buy bread and butter pickles when they are BOGO which is frequently. I drain the bread and butter pickles then put them in the Wickles juice that I have saved. After a week you can't tell the difference. I do change out the Wickles brine periodically.

Ann, I first read the title of your post as...Wrinkles Pickles and of course I couldn't pass up the opprotunity to say something like... not our fault if you have a wrinkled pickle!

I've not seen Wickles around here but if you ever run across a jar of Tony Packo's Sweet Hots give those a try also.
Trivia: Tony Packo's in Toledo Ohio was made famous on M*A*S*H.

I found the word! I was reading the cooking mag that I got in the mail today. The term used for what I suggested above is "repickled". Also, my favorite Wickles type pickles are Nathan's Sweet Horseradish pickles which I am addicted to.

I picked up a jar a couple of days ago and they got shuffled in the fridge. Glad this pot resurfaced - OMG they are AWESOME!

If you can't find Wickles with the pickles and olives, look for Nathan's (same concept) in the refrigerated section. In my store it's along with sauerkraut, hot dogs, and other refrigerated pickles.

I buy wickles at the Cracker Barrel country store. If your local store doesn't carry them remember, most places have a way for customers to request items.

I'm so bad with names, I can never remember anything if I don't write it down, but anyway, one of the big national brands had a "sweet & hot" or maybe it was "sweet & spicey" pickle that I bought a few times that was great. I loved that "bite" of the hot pepper with the sweet pickle but I haven't been able to find them for a long time. It must have been a short term thing they were doing or maybe not everyone liked them as much as I did and they stopped making them!

Since this "wickles" brand isn't available here (and what a great name that is lol!!) does anyone know of a bigger brand that makes a sweet pickle with a hot or spicey bite to it?

Maybe I'll try making my own! I'm planting cukes for the first time this year and I chose a pickling type because I want to start canning as well and decided that along with jam, making pickles would be a good entry to the canning world.

I always assumed they were regional since they're made by a family in Dadeville, Alabama. The name comes from people requesting more jars of those "wicked pickles" from the Sims family around Christmas time.
