Most Dangerous Cake Recipe in the World

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE COFFEE MUG CAKE!!

4 tablespoons flour

4 tablespoons sugar

2 tablespoons cocoa

1 egg

3 tablespoons milk

3 tablespoons oil

3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)

A small splash of vanilla

1 large coffee mug

Add dry ingredients to your largest mug and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly.

Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (if using), vanilla and then mix again.

Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts (high).

The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!

Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.

It will feed two people.

Now you can have a piece of cake anytime.

I posted this one several years ago, and our fellow CFers soundly panned it. Still, I think it is a great home-made way to deliver a fast choc fix. My teen-agers found it an easy way to learn to bake. Even my cooking-impaired bachelor brother can make it.

I would eat that. Ideal like you said if you want a piece of cake without not only making a whole cake but eating the whole thing (DH doesn't really care for chocolate). I'm going to try that sometime.

I have a recipe that looks like that. It's from my Oma and it's called Kalter Hund (Cold Dog in German... strange name). My mom still makes it every year at Christmas. It's not made with buttercream though. The frosting layers are a mixture of coconut oil, sugar and cocoa. The cake layers are actually social tea biscuits dipped in a weak coffee or rum mixture, to soften. It's put together and placed in the fridge to set. It's really delicious. I can post the recipe if you like. I'll have to dig it up. I posted a link below to the Dr. Oetker site, where there is a picture. That recipe isn't the same as mine, but it turns out looking exactly the same. The Dobosh Torte that I know is a round cake with buttercream icing between thin layers of spongecake. Hey Bob E. Lish...here is one that I got off the internet but used for a friend back in Minnesota whose favorite cake was Red Velvet Cake, and he always liked it. If you want, I'll come tutor you in the proper handling of red food coloring and sharing of excess frosting, and we can...go get the camera and take pictures of the cake for all the nice people out there to see. Yeah...that's it! ;-) This one has a frosting recipe already with it. And you thought I was just another pretty face. Ha! Red Velvet Cake 1/2 cup shortening 1 1/2 cups white sugar 2 eggs 2 tablespoons cocoa 4 tablespoons red food coloring 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 cup buttermilk 2 1/2 cups sifted all purpose flour 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda 1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar Grease two 9 inch round pans (I'd probably use the spray now, probably used cocoa over the grease back then (as I did for dark cakes), haven't made this since I came to California). Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream shortening and 1 1/2 cups sugar well. Add eggs and beat well. Make a paste of cocoa and red food coloring. Add to creamed mixture. Mix salt, 1 teaspoon vanilla and buttermilk together. Add alternately the flour with the milk mixture to the creamed mixture. Mix soda and vinegar (it does this cool bubbly thing when you mix the soda and vinegar, so you're forewarned and won't freak and accidentally knock over the bottle of food coloring!). Fold into cake batter, don't beat or stir now. Bake for 30 minutes. Icing 5 tablespoons all purpose flour 1 cup milk 1 cup white sugar 1 cup butter 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Cook 5 tablespoons flour and milk over low heat til thick, stirring constantly. Let cool thoroughly! While cooling, cream 1 cup sugar, 1 cup butter and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat this well til light and flufy. Add to flour mixture and beat until spreading consistency. Ice cooled cake.

Doesn't that sound like a neat little Christmas gift. You could just measure all the dry ingreds. into plastic wrap in a pretty mug. Include a recipie with the rest of the liquid ingreds. Just close the plastic wrap with a twistem and decorations. A cute gift for all your friends that need a chocolate fix now and then. Just a thought! BTW I think I would use a medium egg.

Think I'm gonna try this one! 3 TBS all-purpose flour 2 tsp cocoa 1/8 tsp baking soda 1/8 tsp salt 2 TBS sugar 2 tsp veg. oil 2 TBS water 1/4 tsp vanilla latte mug frosting In a small bowl, sift first 4 ingredients together. Then add last 4 ingredients and mix well. Spray the inside of mug with cooking spray; add cake batter. Put in microwave for 2 minutes. Top with frosting, a homemade chocolate glaze, or chocolate syrup.

If I need a chocolate fix that badly, I would rather just eat a handful of the chocolate chips.

I've tried the cake in a mug and it's not bad, but if one must microwave baked goods, I preferred microwave brownies.

I can't find a recipe in my clippings, but I'm 90% sure this is the one I used. I made mine in a 7" casserole dish and didn't bother rotating since my microwave has a turn table.

Seems I recall when I saw this at a different forum that 3 minutes is too long? Has anyone actually made this and is 3 minutes OK?

I think 3 min is OK. Some folks read the "5 Minute Mug Cake" title, and then cook it for 5 min, which of course is too long. BTW, I prefer to use a beer mug over a coffee mug - the cake is much less likely to overflow.

Hmmmmm. Fortunately, I don't have a microwave. No TV either. I know, I live in the Pleistocene (except for the computer, which is dial up)

Heat with wood too.

I gave it a whirl. I had no chocolate chips. Dropped a piece of chocolate truffle in the center instead. It sank like a stone and burned in the bottom. The texture was very brownie-esque.

I tried it too, back when it was first posted. It's OK, but not good enough that I ever made it again.

I agree it was very much like a brownie in texture.

Yes, I love Nutella too, although the Nutella ice cream link was what really intrigued me, along with the tip of putting milk in your nearly empty Nutella container and shaking it, for Nutella milk.

Oh yeah, the Princess and Bruvver will be fighting over that!
