I watched it too Gayle. I'm so glad she stopped when she did. I agree it was the best one yet, and she seemed so genuine. I lol when she said they gave her dad some maxi pads to help control his sweating.

I can't help wondering if a person who thought she needed a passport to go to California will have the slightest idea of how to handle that much money. She wanted to be able to have health insurance and to have a baby. I hope she's not thinking, Oooh, now I can afford a $400,000 house! Sorry if that sounds uncharitable, but I have to admit she didn't appeal to me as much as some of the other contestants. At least she didn't scream and leap around, though.

As I've said in other threads on the subject, it never ceases to amaze me how many contestants cling to their insistance that they have a million dollars in their case. Kelly was certainly convinced of it, to the point where she turned down an offer of $671,000 (or thereabouts). How someone with such limited finances could turn down that much money is beyond me.

You are right Alisande! She did turn down that offer, I can't remember the exact amount either. I believe she said she made $13,000 last year.

Some of those people on that show amaze me also. They have absolutely nothing and say all they want is enough to buy a house or something like that and then they turn down large amounts of money. GREED, GREED, GREED.

I don't think it's all greed, I think there's a lot of hope too. Everyone wants to believe they'll be the one who wins the million. I've only watched it a few times but there always seems to be a point where they get caught up and insist they're going to 'go all the way' and then a case later, reality hits and they change their mind and take the deal.

I think it's one of the lamest "game" shows ever.

I didn't fault her for the passport comment. It seemed as if she was just a "small town girl" who hadn't had the opportunity to travel and genuinely didn't know better. I've met people who are in their 50s and have never left the state -- some have only ventured into the next county. Nothin' wrong with that! :-)

For that player and her DH, the money will truly change their lives.

Like Paula, you almost sense (from home) when a person reaches a stage that they should take the money! DH and I are very different in that I would quit sometimes when he would keep going...and he is the stable one, whereas I'm usually a risk-taker! Go figure!!

I agree Rita. The game doesn't take any smarts to play. I would have quit with the $600,000 whatever offer. I think she thought it over after a few minutes, and maybe wished she had too. But she still did okay. I wonder what the taxes will be? 30%?

I do like the show but I did not see last night's show until the very end. I'm kinda glad I didn't because I'm not sure I would have been rooting for the girl. On the other hand, when she turned down the $600,000 I thought she was nuts (that's where I started watching.) I wish I could go on that show but they probably wouldn't pick me because I would quit way too early for the producers.

I like Howie... and I am a betting kind of gal so sometimes the odds are in the contestants favour I totally understand why they take the next risk. Unfortunately, when the tables turn, they usually can not go back!

Myself... I may have turned down the 600,000 too, I don't know how much that audience can change a person's mind?

But for such a young girl, who really hasn't been out much, she was so into "health insurance" and being able to affording having a baby? For those of us living in Canada what kind of cost is it?

I really enjoyed the show last night too.I was really hoping her case was a winner.I have watched this since it started and that is the closest I have ever seen anyone get to the million.They must be really desperate to have a million dollar winner the way they are doing it now.

If I remember right, SamKaren from KT was trying to get on that show. I wonder what ever happened with that. Anyone know. She hasn't been around at all or we could ask her.

That woman was crazy not to take the almost 700,000 when she and her husband together made only 13,000 last year. There have been very few people on there that i want to win. Most are loud mouthed screamers who relish all the attention they are getting. But that's how they get on. I probably would have taken the first offer that woman got. And I wouldn't have a gimmick like they all seem to have. Greed is the theme of the show and I start to root for them to lose at some point in the show when they get greedy.
