some window units come with braces that support the weight of the unit on the exterior of the wall. this takes the weight off the window unit and distributes it on the wall. usually by putting a piece of lumber between siding of house and support braces. then the window closes to the top of the unit & pull out pieces on the side of the window close the unit to the sides of the windows. hard to describe, but look at pics on window unit boxes. I think hd and lowes sells these braces seperately. go talk to them & see what they have. best of luck.

Not enough info. Does your A.C. use a bi metal snap for it's T-stat or a cap tube ? Do the condensor air vents stick out far enough for proper cooling ? The first thing you might want to look at is your inverter. You need one rip snorting inverted to power an A.C. unit and keep it running under full load. Even a 1500 watt inverter is only peak wattage at 10 percent duty cycle. Do you have a CONSTANT NON VARING VOLTAGE that supplies your inverter ? How big is this A.C. ? I think the bottom line is that you will not be powering an A.C. unit with an inverter you buy at Sears. Again, what kind of inverter do you have ?

Klem1, window units are disposable. It's not likely for this person to be able to fix it... They are really not designed to be taken apart and worked on. The interior of them typically consists of formed styrofoam along with a slew of parts made of plastic. The cost to fix 'what is likely to be' a crying compressor --- $$$. What? That's ridiculous. I can buy a new one for cheaper than that. Congratulations China / Mexico / S Korea / Japan.

If the water can drain properly to the outside then I don't believe the AC will suffer any damage. The biggest problem is getting cold air infiltration and heat loss.
