shutting down : Carrier Thermidistadt and York 80 System

I have 2 York Diamond 80 system that have been nickel and diming me to death for about 3 years and it's not even 10 years old. Now my Carrier Thermidistadt is shorting out which just has me frustrated and ready to switch the systems out (I also want to finish my basement and would like to replace the systems before I do the work).

I thought the thermidistadt was bad, swapped the second floor unit down and it worked, so i bought a new one on line to replace it. Now the new one is doing some of the same things, even shutting down sometimes, just flashing all sorts of messages (like a clock that has been through a power outage but no power outage has occured).

Any thoughts on this. I know it's low voltage up to the termidistat. Has anyone seen the sender go bad and short out a Thermidistadt/thermostadt before.

Thanks
