Life is so good!!! Keep on goin' Urina! You're a good little kidney. Some wonderful family and woman gave you this blessed life. In addition to the physical changes in your body, you must have experienced a lot of powerful emotions as well.

How long do you have to go back to the clinic weekly? Do the anti-rejection meds have any side-effects, or do you know yet?

I hope that the "getting used to one another" - which should be helped by the new companion being given an attractive name - proceeds apace and uneventfully.

How does it feel to be back in the game of giving something/one close to one a name?

I hope that you can send a message back to the donor family to let them know of your thankfulness. And it seems to me that it would be well if you could send an occasional message, for a while, to share your joy and exuberance, along with the appreciation, as I'm sure that, in the midst of their loss and pain, it would bring a substantial sense of satisfaction, as well: help with the healing of their wound.

I had a little diarrhea this week, not sure what caused it. May have been one of the anti-rejection meds. They sometimes cause "gastric" problems. Docs told me to drink 8 glasses of liquids a day to really break in my kidney. "Urina" is in my lower left abdomen. The incision is horizontal, so a good bathing suit will cover it. But I guess my two-piece days are over. I was so happy I sent cookies to my old job, my old dialysis hospital, my new transplant hospital and my old dialysis medical group. Yes it was emotional. Felt sad for the donor and her family, spent one day crying in my hospital bed. Came home in absolute manic-happiness, feeling invincible. But I'm playing it safe, taking my meds,drinking my water, resting, being very careful about hand-washing, etc.

I found a diet too, and I GAINED 55 pounds! Not
happy! They had me eating exactly opposite of
what we should be eating, and I guess I haven't
stopped. Starting a new way of eating TODAY!
