I agree with you Deb. Magic Crochet and Decorative Crochet were my favorites for thread crochet. It seems that every site that advertised subscriptions to either has been removed. I miss them, too. I only subscribed for about three years, so once in a while I find one at an estate or garage sale, and sometimes on ebay that is an issue I don't have. You bet I snap them up.

I have a couple of issues of Magic Crochet. The instructions seem really clear. Does Red Heart still put out their crochet magazine? I have several of those and of Herrschnerr's. They don't have a lot of thread crochet, but they do have a nice selection of things.

I have a subscription to Magic Crochet (since 1984) and a subscription to Decor. Crochet. All of a sudden this past spring, I wasn't getting either . April was my last issue. I had to call the distribution company to find out why.

They said that Magic Crochet and Decor. Crochet were being re-formatted and combined, and they didn't know when I would be getting the next issue.

Well, I just received the Oct issue today, and it is awful!! There's only 10 or so designs, and they didn't bother to change the written instructions from the European to the American. Fortunately, the graphs are the same.

I don't know when my subscription will be expiring, but unless the issues improve, I won't be resubscribing.

(I was really rather 'miffed' with the company. They didn't send a notice or anything about the delay, I had to call daytime at my own expense. It's beginning to look that thread crochet is becoming a lost art.)

On Thurs I rec'd the latest issue of Magic Crochet and today I rec'd Decorative Crochet. Both issues are very thin with only 10 designs per issue. And not very inspiring designs at that. Hope they improve soon.

Well, I'll be on the look out for the magazines and check them out myself. I hate they had to go change the magazines because there was nothing wrong with them the way they were! It is sooooo hard to find good patterns for thread crochet.

I have been looking for a certain pattern that was in one of these magazines, but have not been successful so far. Can anyone tell me if you know; which issue posted a round tablecloth that had 12 panels ending with a rose and another kind of flower? Will keep my fingers crossed that someone out there will know! And if you do, please, please let me know! Thanks a million!

I USED TO SUBSCRIBE TO BOTH MAGIC AND DECORATIVE CROCHET. HAVE ALL THE ISSUES AND LOVE THEM. HAVE BEEN CROCHETING SINCE AGE 8 AND AM 52 NOW. I MAKE THINGS WITH DMC, STRING AND ALL WTS OF YARN. USE WHATEVER THREAD SUITS MY FANCY AT TIME.

I would love to see Decorative Crochet come back. They have the best directions for the most beautiful doilies.

I was surfing and just found your posting - I was very disappointed about these 2 magazines! I found this type of pattern when we were stationed in Hawaii. There are still books/magazines available. They are printed in Japanese, but with the diagrams you don't need to read the instructions. There is/was a lady on esty.com that was selling some of these, shiping charges from Japan made them very expensive, so I'm still looking for a book store in the states for them.
I would appreciate knowing if any are found!

I have back magazines since l984 and I will never part from them. I love them. I have tried to subscribe to them when I moved to Puerto Rico, and I received my subscrption cards back. What happened to both my favorite magazines. are they coming back. Gee, I really hope so. I learned to improved my crochet from them , and every project I made came out perfect. So please I would like to hear from you, and tell me the good news that I can again subscribe to these wonderful magazines.

Hi folks. I'm 54; Dad's Mom taught me thread crochet; I've been making doilies, garlic bags, curtains, clothing ... ever since. Magic was my fav; I had the info from the company in NH [where I spent many years] that created the software to translate written patterns into the diagrams we all love; but alas.... I am going to scan my crate of mags in case something physical happens to them..... any thoughts? copyrights to a vanished empire??? etc.??

There was to be a new magazine combining the 2 has anyone seen it? I think it is called love to crochet not sure but I do imagine it won't even come close to Magic or Decorative...so sad

There are a couple other mags out there that have the charts for crocheting doilies, you just have to look for them. Had all issues to MC, and DC, but believe they went out of business in 2005 or so. Ebay is your best bet if you want the real deal.

I still have my collection. Wish I had more.

i use to get these magazines also and noticed a lot of some of the things on pinterest. i have a question i really hope someone can answer is there a book or magazine that has some of the bathroom sets that pinterest has pictured like the owl and etc.and the toilet tissue covers that hang on the wall. also some of the weird shaped doily patterns all to crochet i have looked but they don' t have any around here. i sure would like to know to order and make some for christmas. if you can let me know i sure would apprecite it my email is diannemccoy2@aol.com
