Update on Rhiannon and the rest of the family Prayers needed!

Well, it always seems like if something could happen, it will happen at our house lol. Rhiannon is getting around great, with her crutches and hopping around the house. Today has been 3 weeks in a cast, and looks like at least 3 more weeks to go. Thankfully DH works at school and can carry her up the stairs and help out when needed. Went to Dr. last Monday and he said that it looks like it is healing pretty good on the x-rays which is welcome news.

Now DH has sleep apnea and hasn't been able to keep the cpap on all night since he got it last spring. Found out the problem when we went to the ENT because he was so tired all the time. His right nostril is completely blocked, he has broken his nose so much in football in college and High school that the cartlige has curved over to close the nostril, which means that the cpap can't deliever the air. So waitning on a surgery date to rebreak the nose and set it, clean out the upper sinuses that have been trying to compinsate for the broken nose, trim his uvula since it is so big and also take out his tonsils which have been a problem for years.

While in the ENT I had him check Hudson's ears, he has had several bad ear infections despite having tubes in his ears. When he checked found out the tubes are in but completely blocked and aren't doing their job. So he is going to have surgery to replace the tubes, remove his adnoids and tonsils because of his snoring and because he gets sick so often.

It has been a tough few months, when it rains it definately pours around here. If you have a second or two for some prayers for our family that would be great. Thank you for all the prayers and cards for our family during the Christmas season, it made it a wonderful holiday for everyone in the family. The kids are still looking at the Christmas cards weeks later.

I know that this too shall pass and things will get better, but it is hard on the mama. I know that we will have lots of recupperating time coming up and besides taking care of everyone, still have to take care of the house. Fighting depression is an ongoing and daily fight and it is really hard at this time to keep my head up. I figure as long as I keep treading water and keep my head above water it will be okay.

Sorry for the long post, but with so much going on, it is easy to become overwhelmed.

Glad to hear the good news. I totally get the heart-stopping feeling. When my now 4 1/2 year old twin grandsons were born at 36 weeks, one spent 1 week in the NICU then another week in the step-down unit. The other twin had blood and bilirubin issues and spent 2 weeks in the NICU, where they performed a total blood transfusion at 8 days old, then 2 weeks in the step-down and then we spent the next year running back and forth to hematologists and pulmonologists. Rhiannon is getting around on her crutches pretty good, now we got snow and it is a little trickier. We go to the Doctor tomorrow and hopefully it is starting to heal. A week after the break the bone had started to shift, which is common with spiral breaks. X-rat tomorrow should show if it is back in line, if not she will be facing surgery. You’re right, it’s a big fireplace - we have considered taking out that high hearth when we install the floor. We use the gas fireplace when we lose power - the current snow makes that a possibility. You can see the breakfast area and our screened porch off this room.

stacie maybe dh and ds can go in at the same time? they could keep each other company!

we have 4 kids (all adults now) and when it rains it sure does pour all over mom! that's when i discovered a nice cup of tea and a trashy book, lol, did wonders for relaxing...

Susan, just scheduled surgeries today, and both DH and Hudson are having surgery on the 25th of January, both on the same day. DH will have to stay over and Hudson will be able to come home, My mom is going to watch the other kids and watch Hudson over night while I stay in the hospital with DH. The week after surgery Rhiannon should be able to get her cast off if everything goes okay.

way to go, stacie..a little more work with 2 recouping but if you do some ahead shopping, it helps...

hudson will want soft and cold for the tender throat, and dh easy to eat non-conjesting foods to keep his nose clear...i do hope this will help your ds...funny thing we were talking about t&a for my dgs, but dd is relunctant...

she sure doesn't remember all the times i was up with her, with "dragon breath", sore throats, 2 sets of tubes, ect...in fact when she had a hearing test as a hs student, they said she could use a hearing aid! of course we couldn't afford that...sigh...she did get thru college and has a great job...

Thanks Susan, I will let you know. I already stocked up on sugar free gatoraid for my dh (he's diabetic) Have tons of soup frozen ready to go and plan on stocking up on popsicles and ice cream too. I am glad that we are doing both at the same time, It will be tough but better than having 3 weeks of recovery and can baby both of my boys at the same time:) They didn't say anything about taking out either DH or Hudsons Tonsils or adnoids, but with talking to the Dr. I suggested while we were doing the surgery, we might as well do it right. DH has had trouble with his tonsils all our married life an we had talked about it for years for him to have them out. I know it will be tougher on him, but to get a good nights sleep is important. As it is, he can "sleep" 8 hours a night and still fall asleep at the drop of a hat because the sleep isn't restful sleep.

Good Luck Stacie! When my niece and nephew had their T&A out a LOT of their ear infection problems stopped and the sleeping was easier (which will be easier for you too!)
