I do, but apparently I don't do much of anything with it these days, as I haven't written since March. I keep intending to get back to it - it was very enjoyable when I was writing regularly, and it was just sort of a creative outlet, as I really enjoy writing. If I weren't so darn busy during the day and wiped out at night, I'd maybe stand more of a chance of getting back there.

It does seem like most people write on these for a few months and then stop. They do seem better with a focal point rather than being just a journal.

Mine is not quite ready for prime time. I need to tinker with it a little more before I show it to anyone.

Perhaps you have seen ours. It is a magazine/blog and was started by a member here and myself and has grown to include Allison as our shopping editor and guest bloggers from here, like Texashottie who wrote about her trip to Morocco and Squirrelheaven who has done some amazing virtual makeovers with us. Pirula did all our book reviews and Freeatlast chronicled one of her rental makeovers on our blog way back when ;D We also have the original "Kitchens We Love" pictures that began on Webshots.

We write about what each of us specializes in. For me it's rugs, Jane F. is an Interior Designer and Allison covers all the hot shopping tips.

I have met some of the most delightful people since we started. Bloggers are very supportive of each other and each day I try to visit as many of our blog pals to keep up with what everyone else is chatting about.

It's true that some bloggers find the pace hard to manage. Personally, I don't know how anyone with kids and full time jobs does it! We've been on the web for over 2 years, and providing fresh content every day is definitely more work than it appears.

Ah, harriet, I have also been ispired by the book and movie. I have always enjoyed writing, and way back when was a journalism major in college. My kids tell me that it is easy to do, and there are free sites for hosting. Older DS did a Podcast for a while, and that was fun.

Not sure where I would go with it, tho I am thinking along the lines of a new empty-nester of sorts.

What I fear is that I won't have the discipline to write regularly enough. Also, not sure how personal I want to get - while some of those kinds of topics seem totally apropos, I don't know if I want those who know me reading some of the things that I might be tempted to include.

les, I'm writing about my experiences with music, and I can see it will be a balancing act between telling enough about myself to make it interesting but also avoiding saying anything that might offend someone I know who happens to read it. That will be part of the challenge of it.

So many people don't seem to realize that everything they write is completely public and out there for the entire world to see.

Julie Powell's blog (after I saw the movie, I dug it up and read it -- it's still online) was riveting in part because she was so uninhibited about what she said.

One of the hardest things I think any blogger struggles with is how much of oneself to reveal to the public. Even though we write about home design & decor, our articles would be boring if we didn't interject some of our individual personalities and tidbits of our lives, but there is always that "where do I draw the line" feeling.

And Harriet it is so true that what is written is out there for everyone to see. That fact really hits home when I review our statistics and see how many people visit our site. But I think eventually you find your comfort zone, or at least I did. It's a bit unnerving at first to see your name and picture showing up on searches, but after awhile it becomes just one of a million other people out there ;) Though I was taken aback the other day when I discovered there is a site that tracks all of the blog comments made by individuals. Ok now THAT was kind of weird to read all my ramblings neatly packaged on one site :P

There are indeed free host sites, Blogger being one of the most popular. You might also check BlogCatalog and see what others in your field are writing about.

Les, I find it hard to imagine you not having the discipline to write every day! But many bloggers do not write that often, so you can choose your own pace. Also, with your sharp eye and knack for furniture and accessory arranging, I think it would be interesting to see you take that talent in some direction on a blog.

As I said before, it's a whole 'nuther world out there blogging and it is really a unified community that interacts with and supports fellow bloggers.

Yep, have a blog. It's in the shop at the moment. I have not written a post for the blog in an age because it's being moved from Blogger to WordPress and I figured what's the point. I'll wait til it's done.

My blog movers tell me that Wordpress is a better choice because of some content ownership issues or something - I wasn't paying attention the whole time. ⺠I think WordPress is free too? ??? Don't know much about it, but maybe another one to check in to.

However, I did start Twittering. I think I like it. There's a limit of 140 words per Twitter and I need that setting limits kinda structure. âº

Yep, blogger here too or at least attempting to be one. Actually working on several ones which is kind of ambitious but mine are not just expressing myself but to help others, so my goal is to be more consistent in contributing as time allows. The decorating relating is linked and others are linked there if you want to look around.
I am using Wordpress as well and have been pleased with the features that it has to offer.

If I didn't have a business, it might be more difficult to keep up the posts. Right now, it's a free site since we haven't paid for an official website at this time. I agree, and your feelings pretty much describe my own reaction after learning of the database compiled of comments written here, of all places. Tho when I mentioned it was accused of being paranoid. Guess it's one of those things that has to be experienced first hand to be able to relate.

No blogging for me, and don't really have any that I follow. Tho there are some really nice ones out there I've spent a little time reading. There is one I thought might be nice to revisit, maybe someone can help me find it? A french one that I'm pretty sure I found through HD. Think even the blogger's name had "french" in her ID. Reading what little I did felt like going on a journey to another place. A lot of the photography was quite good, and though it was a variety (family, etc.) it was the decor and food photographs that were so appealing. Not fou-fou french, but more earthy elements. Failed to bookmark and haven't been able to locate it since.

I wonder if it was French Dressings, Moon?

I remember the name because I twisted it in my head for a nanosecond and thought it had something to do with dressing like the French - like fashion. I'm not one of those quick readers. :) But it wasn't to do with fashion, it was a decor blog.

Can't find a blog under that name yet, I keep getting hits on lettuce or jeans. ;o Now it's really going to bug me, I'm pretty sure that was her blog I followed from here, but if she had any posts here they aren't coming up in a search either. Jaybird, I was the one that led Corey here. I felt bad for the way she was treated - then banned. Hers is one blog (besides AM) I check on every single day. If you haven't read in awhile, go back a few weeks and read about their motorcycle trip.

JaneF had asked to use my kitchen in KWL. Several months later, she asked if I was interested in writing a shopping post once a week. It's fun, but sometimes takes longer than it should to write. I tend to find an item, then get interested in something else.....then something else, etc etc. lol

I just started a blog (yep, I saw Julie & Julia and it sparked my interest). So far it's been a great motivator for me to actually get stuff done and it's been fun. I'm not focusing on just one thing, but my main things I'll blog about are model home tours, tours of my friend's homes that are good decorators, projects I'm working on, travel to small towns and shops, and favorite recipes.
