Your list of favorites

Is there a way possible that you can copy and paste your list of favorites? With me traveling

from home to my daughter's, I would like to have my list with me at both places.

I do not want to hand write them because it would take me forever.

TIA

Deb

If your browser is IE level 7, you can click on the Button to add a favorite (or hold down the ALT key and Z at the same time). This brings up a list, click on the 3rd entry "Import and Export...". Select Import when asked.
This will then brign up a Wizard that will guide you in saving your favorites to a file.
What I did was, email the file, as an attachment, to myself. Then I can be at another PC, download the attached file, then do the same steps as when it was saved, only selecting Import in the Wizard.

I click on bookmarks, then click on manage bookmarks, then click on file, then print.

I was just browsing through my copy of Glowinski's book last night, so I'll second Don's recommendation of it. But for the American reader it has one important shortcoming, namely that Australia lacks some of the major insect pests and diseases you will face in TN. Perhaps the most important are the insect plum curculio and the bacterial disease fireblight. For example, Glowinski says the Hosui Asian pear is highly disease resistant; it may well resist the diseases found in Australia, but it is reputed to be very susceptible to fireblight here. Another shortcoming is in regard to the varieties: due to Australia's extremely tough regulations on importing plant or animal life, a large numbe of varieties we can readily get in the US are not available to Australians. For example, Glowinski lists only one readily available gooseberry cultivar, whereas over here there are dozens. But these shortcomings can be overcome by use of the web; I particularly like the fruit growing guides available on line from Penn State and Cornell. What is particularly good about Glowinski's book (besides its great readability) is that it is oriented to the backyard grower and manages to hit just the right balance between technical details more appropriate for a commercial grower and dummed down information of little real value to the home grower.

Both of you are lucky, I saw 31-32 repeatedly last winter out in Poway. All of my bananas lost all there leaves at some point over the winter, the only one not to lose some stem was the ice cream. What I think was a mysore got taken down nearly to the ground. add to that the 102+ degress temps from last week and it seems that our little corner of Poway gets both ends of the extremes. The heat seemed to bother the recovering mysore, but all the better established plants (ice crea, goldfinger and an apple) shrugged it right off.

WOW! Thanks again to all who took the time to share your list of favorites. web_of_hair: I over-wintered a prolific Tobasco and it is doing the best of all my over-wintered peppers. I have Lemon Drop seeds started for this year, thanks to a generous offer by Pepper_Rancher. The Black Hungarian looks interesting - might give it a try. groovy1: IÂll let you know if the Billy GoatÂs been in the Cherries! zanderspice: Like you, I over-wintered a Fatalii as well. Unlike you, here in VA you need to bring them inside for 6 or 7 months to over-winter! I tried John's (Fiedlermiester) radical prune method when I dug up and brought all my peppers in last fall. Now, the Fatalii is showing some signs of life, but the juryÂs still out on its survival. noinwi: IÂve got the Jalapenos and Ornamentals covered for this year, but IÂll add yours to my list of candidates for next year. Good luck with your "Noid Purple" - hope it grows out to your liking! ohio_grower: IÂm either over-wintering or have started seeds for everything on your list, except maybe the "Hybird Chili" lol! No, wait. IÂm trying Gypsy this year, so does that qualify? This is also my first year for the Marconi and IÂm really looking forward to trying it. Alan (mister_al): I have your list covered as well, except for the Golden Greek Pepperoncini and the Wild Brazil. The Wild Brazil looks and sounds similar to a "bird" pepper, which is on next yearÂs list. The Pepperoncini sounds interesting - have to see if I can find a place for it. habbob: I certainly have heard of Thai Dragon, but have never tried it. From what IÂve read, it sounds like it could make a great powder. Same goes for the Caribbean Red - IÂve heard of it, just never tried it. I over-wintered two Chocolate Habs and both look like theyÂre doing very well. Looking forward to seeing how they produce this season! Kendra (ardnek710): Now thereÂs a list of peppers to research! The Chiero Recife, Malagueta and St. Lucia seasoning pepper catch my eye. IÂll be looking at them a little more closely! bdautreuil: IÂve tried or am trying most of your list (except your seeds from friends peppers). The two I havenÂt tried are Spicy Mustard Habanero and the Cowhorn Cayenne. IÂve got several of both types already going, so IÂll add these two to next yearÂs list. Again, thank you all very much for your responses and I hope you have a GREAT growing season this year!

I think this is a good starting point. I looked for the recipe I first used but think it must have been on a rum bottle or?? One thing I've learned is to NOT put the mint in the simple syrup (when making the syrup) instead of muddling it. I did that one time per a friend's instruction and YUCK it made the mojito taste like mouthwash. In a 16 ounce mixing glass, gently muddle together: 1 large sprig spearmint .75 oz simple syrup Add: 1 oz of fresh squeezed lime juice and pulp 2 oz white rum (sometimes called Silver Rum) I use Castillo Silver 3 oz club soda or sparkling mineral water Top with crushed ice and mix until drink is combined and glass is frosty. I used to use club soda, but now use Gerolsteiner mineral water that I buy at Trader Joe's. I've tried other mineral waters, but it's the only one I like I'd not use any other...if you can't find it, use club soda and use a name brand, not a house brand. I like Schweppes the best. Here is a link that might be useful: Water I prefer to use

What I do is e-mail myself a letter and drag each of my favorites to the body of the letter.

Monica's way is probably simpler, but it gets confusing to me when I have to start holding down buttons and figuring out the uploads and downloads etc. Can you tell what I am not computer savvy? :)

gramzeeinmd, I had the same question. I would like to have a print out of mine too. I print out a lot of things, obviously I don't trust computers. I still need hard copies in my hand! I want printed pictures too, taken with digital camera. Can't see them in the computer!
Thanks for bringing this up. Did you ask this in the computer forum.?
I don't seem to have what it takes(program wise), to do what monica is saying.

Deb, here's a couple of things you can also do.

1) If you're using Windows, there is a folder "Documents & Settings". Depends on how that folder is set up, somewhere in there, you will find your "Favorites" folder. Burn it on a CD or copy this folder to an external memory storage device. Once you're at your daughter, you'd need to transfer it into the 2nd computer under the same directory "Documents & Settings". Make sure that if that computer belongs to your daughter, she's ok with that.

2) If you don't want to transfer the whole "favorite" list, you can just copy the links to a "compose" e-mail and save it as a draft. When you're at your Daugther's, open the save draft and you'd have your links.

Btw, if you don't have a CD burner or a storage device, you can also zip up the "favorites" folder and attach it to a compose e-mail and save it as a draft. Similar to what Monica explained but don't need to e-mail it to yourself.

Check out googlebookmarks. If you have a google account you can save all your favorites to google bookmarks. (Can also import from IE) The only concern with this is that the computer that you are trying to access your bookmarks on must have the google toolbar.
