Two part computer question.....

I just installed Firefox browser, love it, but I need to make the print larger on the sites, and when I go to the top and hit view, there's no choice for print size. ALSO, I'm having to sign in everytime, so what do I enable to stop this? thanks!!

Hi BigJack,
At the top click on Tools, then Options. Halfway down the page, you'll see fonts and size. Adjust it to the size you want and it should work then.

Do you mean signing in to this and other sites? Did you check the box where you log in?

I use Firefox...Does anyone know how to put a shortcut on the desktop?
I always have to go to Internet Explorer put in the web address and click on create shortcut....

Linda, ALL auctions that I attend are open to ALL buyers. There is no such thing (at least in the eastern states)as a distinct "collector's sale", nor are there "trade only" sales. Taking this from the auctioneer's perspective-the goal is to maximise the hammer price of each lot that crosses the block. This benefits both auction and consignor. Therefore, closing sales to the public (collectors) contraindicates that goal. Perhaps there may be a few places local to you that require a dealer to have a tax ID or license of some sort in order to attend but that is not the practice here. Is the Harris auction a dealer only auction? I didn't see any restrictions in a quick perusal of the site. In this area, if trade attends sales, trade does so in order to buy specific items for specific clients, or hopes that something 'slips through the cracks' so that it may be purchased for later retail sale. Unfortunately most things are greedily grabbed by clients with very deep pockets! It's no secret that many in the gallery and most of the telephone bids are trade bidding on behalf of these clients. I looked up the Gene Harris-got Tom Harris, presumably that's the son who took over? I used to go to sales like this but never, ever found one single thing that I would retail; although there have been two or three objects within my specialty, these were so tatty that I couldn't be bothered. I rarely buy 'projects'. I have one object sitting in my house that needs only a re-gluing and re-set of its tripod base (minor repair and not considered attrition). I have had this object since the end of March and haven't got the job done yet. All it takes is a telephone call. Just so you know why I can't buy projects! We often fall into inventory just by word of mouth, mostly through our networks. I really prefer buying from and selling to trade, although margins are slimmer it's enormously fun. But oh my I do love the axcitement of an auction. Hehe, now I sortakinda know where you are! You must come east, ma'am, and let me take you round with me. You'd have a blast and would probably be the 'belle of the ball'. But then, in return, you'd have to haul me around all the good places in your region.

Perhaps if you had an extremely ridiculous amount of icons on the Desktop it would effect your startup. However, in general they are of little concern. The main negative would be the active applications they could represent. These applications are the ones being initialized during startup and are all-too-often not needed as they can easily be accessed on-demand through the Start Menu. It seems today every time you install an application it wants to install a Desktop icon, a Quick Launch icon and a Start menu entry. This for the average user is over kill. Personally I have only four on my Desktop and two are pointed to the Recycle Bin and one I created for Windows Explorer. On my Quick Launch I have Windows Mail, Firefox and IE8. Everything else I can readily access from the Start Menu, and I like looking at my grandchildren a lot better than DT clutter. DA

The OBD (On Board Diagnostic) port only works as well as the cars software at reporting problems. In many cases the diagnostic tree starts with getting an error code, and then making sure the sensor itself is operating correctly. If the sensor is bad, any input it supplies is suspect, and the computer may create other problems that appear only vaguely related to the sensor problem. A bad throttle position sensor can cause the conptuer to alter the engine air-fuel mixture, or a bad oxygen sensor can result in changes in air-fuel also (producing all the symptoms of that problem). It is not like the computer always identifies the defect, it just might say that the oxygen sensor is 'out of expected range.'

Somehow I missed earlier thread. I am in Kingwood and actually start digging on Monday. We went with ELC - they have long time landscape business and brought Bruce Carlson in 6 months ago to do pools. Bruce has been in KW for 30+ years and we've gotten references from new and 7-8 year old pool owners. Like you, we wanted a pool that was a good value and not over the top. We feel Bruce understands and has recommended features accordingly. We also talked with Bill & Todd at Eastex Pools. Again, local guys with a good product though a bit more pricey. We wanted someone who has roots in community - give local $$ and stand behind their product if they see you in HEB! Also wanted small builder who would be onsite and able to customize versus package build. We chose to invest in salt system, but sacrificed putting in spa. A key benefit to us was the ease of maintenence and sense that salt doesn't have the quick, wide swings that chlorine does (unless there is a major problem) so adjustments are easier. We are also adding several deck sprayers to enhance the look of the pool when not in use. Our design is modified rectangle with very clean, understated lines. Theme is "laps and lazy" - long with big sun shelf! Plan on posting build pics and details next week. Stay tuned :)

Jacquelyn, double-clink on the top of the page (where the x to shut the page is) and drag it down a bit on your screen.
With FF you have to click on the icon of the website, next to the address. e.g. the Green Spade next to the gardenweb address.
Drag the green spade to your desktop.

Bigack, Ctrl+ and Ctrl- will enlarge and reduce font sizes as well.

I just downloaded the FireFox Browser. I figured so many people have been telling me how easy it is to use and if so many are happy I can be too! Lately IE has really been dogging my work by not connecting to web pages or just freezing up completely and my poor system has to find a solution or restart the page which disconnects me. blahblahblahyaddayaddayadda Oh How I HOPE I can learn how to use it with very few dummy questions. Is there a firefox for dummies booklet out? LOL I'm off to the getting started page to learn. Please wish me luck.

I'm having fun learning how much FF is better and so far it hasn't quit on me like IE has been doing lately. So far the spell check alone has been a big help. I know how to spell in my head but the fingers do as they please on the keyboard. Now I can see errors without having to scutinize every word.

I'm gonna go play now. Thanks Ya'll for helping me make the choice to do this change.

I'm assuming you got FF3, not the old FF2?

If it is FF3, here is the site where you can get the Text Size Toolbar. You will have three "magnifier" icons on your toolbar.

I just did that a couple days ago.

Using ctrl and the scroll wheel on your mouse will let you zoom in and out too. Sometimes that's better than changing font sizes

One of the coolest features of Firefox is the add-on. I have weather forecasts on the bottom bar, plus a radar map that pops up. Wonderful! Except I wish it would stop showing single-digit temperatures....
