Well, I have started and have ripped out the first bit 3 times. I have about 5 or 6 inches done now. However, I'm not sure about it. The ones I saw were almost like a tube when finished and only about a couple of inches or two and a half across. This lady had used 8 stitches and in every other one. Red heart says 6. I can see when it is cast off that will look tube like but what about the end where I started. I can't see that is is going to be the same. More advice???? How wide was yours when you finished, knitting in every space, donna? I see why they say you need to be careful when setting it down as it will easily slip off the needles. I remedied that. I had a paper punch about 1 and 1/2 inch and cut some circles out of card stock and pushed a darning needle through the centre. I put that on one end of each needle. When I set it down I put one on the other end. It couldn't possibly fall off and works great. Barnmom, if you Google Red Heart ribbon knit scarves, you will find pics. Thanks to all of you. Don't know how many ribbons you're talking about, but years ago, when my daughter was bringing home ribbons from horse shows, my husband stretched a length of wire across her room (near the ceiling) and she hung them up there. By the time she finished riding in shows there were wires on three walls. She enjoyed displaying them and it kept them in an organized spot.

Hi June, I've made several t-shirt quilts. Yes, you do need to back the streachy t-shirts. I use a light-weight fusible interface. You can get it at stores like Joann's. Cut the back of the shirt from the front by cutting up the sides of the shirt and across the shoulders. Iron the fusible to the wrong side of the part of the shirt with the logo. Some logos are on the front, some on the back. I put the logo face down on the ironing board, place the interfacing on top (be sure the fusible side of the interfacing is down). Place a teflon pressing sheet over the fusible web and press. Do not let the iron touch the logo as many will melt. I cut the interfacing a couple inches larger than needed so I can square up easier. Once fused, cut out the t-shirt logo to whatever size you want. I'd measure the largest logo and cut the rest to that size, centering the logos within that dimension. My first quilt blocks were 12 1/2". My next one contained all different size blocks from 3" - 9". I've also fused interfacing to the unused side of the t-shirt, cut strips and used it to enlarge smaller blocks. Sue

Thanks for all of the help so far. To Patti's questions... Yes, I prewashed. After reading up on various types of knit fabrics, I believe mine is in the "interlock" category. It fits the description on the page linked below. The needle is a "universal" type, recommended by the nice lady at the fabric store. When you start talking about the "self-bias method," you're already over my head. That said, I think I probably used the wrong sort of interfacing. The lady at the store suggested one type, but I disregarded her advice because the stuff she suggested was not fusible, and the pattern instructions specified a fusible type.
