Which came first? Your garden or your cooking?

I really began as a gardener. I had all these great herb plants and a neighbor gave me her recipe to use them all in a recipe she called "sop". Olive oil, salt, herbs and dip the bread in it. Nothing all that earth shattering, except that I learned how fresh herbs gave my ok cooking such a lift, I decided to branch out and grow tomatoes and carrots the next year, and the cooking took off. I've gardened for a score of years, but the combination of cooking and gardening was about 15 years ago. So my gardening led to cooking. I won't add the photography part to it too, but it is interesting to me that so many of us like all three, especially combining them.

Did you cook first and then grow stuff? Or vice-versa?
