Can't imagine what the parents, school and community are going through right now.

Collision kills eight near Bathurst, N.B.

Seven teammates from a high school basketball team and one adult were killed overnight after colliding with a transport truck near Bathurst, N.B., RCMP confirmed Saturday.

This just breaks my heart for everyone involved. I cannot begin to imagine how they feel. Just this week a 17 y o at my GS's school was killed in a car wreck. He was an only child. I don't know how the parents go forward.

Yes, I remember. I live right next to where the accident was and the family was related to a co-worker. He told me about the triplets several months ago. It was such a heart-wrenching story. I am so happy that things are working out for them.

That is a sad story. I hope the man will recover fully. Flying, even in a small plane, is still much safer than driving. My Ex flew small planes and it was kind of fun. The not fun part was how long it took to get ready to take off and then landing in small airports far from anything. I did enjoy looking down at things. Not sure I would have the courage to be the pilot, although it really didn't look that hard. Parachute? No way!

I had similar shock about parents still living. The parents of one of my brother's lifelong friends came to his gathering. The friend, who passed years back following a motorcycle accident, was the same age as my brother. My parents died in 1975 and 2000. Someone told me this guy's parents were coming and I was shocked to think his parents were still alive. I was so happy to meet them and I couldn't help but saying "you're so young" when I met them. I guess that was better than "you're still alive". I was just in the mindset that the parents of people my age are no longer with us though of course that's not true in many cases.

How tragic for all that are touched by this. I assume that the driver of the van was one of those that died. It is terrible to say, but perhaps death for the driver would be kinder than having to live with this even if they were totally faultless in the crash that took these young lives.

That is so sad to loose any students. Roads can be bad with the snow/rain/ice mixture and many living in areas like this sometimes make poor decisions or just plain can't help it.
My thoughts with all families.
