Positive energy needed!

I just found out a few days ago my favorite aunt (my mom's sister) has a lump. She went for the biopsy, I don't know when that will be back. Her sister and her cousin are BC survivors so I know it's not a death sentence, but dear auntie doesn't take very good care of herself (just everyone else) so I hope they caught it early enough. It showed on mammogram, my mom said it was "large and irregular" so I don't know how far along it is and maybe aunt wasn't doing her monthly BSEs.

Pesky I'm so sorry all this is happening in your life and also to say that most people who are close to the person who took his own life will have the exact feelings you're husband is experiencing. It's the "what if I had " part of grief but let me say this. Years ago I watched a documentary on people who take their own lives and the summary was that, in almost all cases, trying to help wouldn't have made a difference. They interviewed people who had been found in time to get help and they all said the same thing. They would not have listened. The despair is so deep that they feel the world would be better off without them. None of us can mind read. You can live with a person and think you know how they're doing and then this happens. For a while he can beat himself up about it but, if it lasts, then he'd need some therapy as guilt can cause horrible depression. He's not guilty of anything, we all choose our own course. I'm sure his friend thought long and hard about it. God bless you and your DH.

Feisty DM got tossed out of rehab and moved to skilled nursing. They said, she doesn't remember her precautions and says I will use any D... walker I want! They need some psychology lessons - you challenge someone like my DM and she will let you know what she thinks. In any case, I think the SNF is a better match for her right now and the food will be 10x better. The chef used to bring oysters on the half shell down to my dad when he was dying last year. It would perk him right up!

Citydata has a cancer section in health; ironic that I asked for it before my hubby was diagnosed..
There's a post there started by Roma on BC. I left a lot of information in it.

My MIL has been fighting since 2/2007 and is doing well. She's being treated in Ohio and loves her Dr.

Oh yes, count me in too. Pounding my fist on my desk, saying (to myself as well), "Women! We must take care of ourselves too!"

Speaking of taking care of ourselves, I had a colonoscopy this week. Anyone else had one lately? I thought of Eileen the whole time, thinking she would be proud of me.

No, and I don';t plan to do one for a while.. once was enough for me, I was sick as a dog for a week.

Hubby was saying that's the next thing he's doing & I think it's a good idea due to his age.

I might change my mind in a year or so.. Farrah freaked me out. The more that's learned about the HPV virus, I think we're going to find out that more cancers are due to it.

Stand Up 2 Cancer actually has a few great teams going right now; I wish we had more money to donate....

Hoping for good things, saying prayers, sending all in your direction.

Had my first colonoscopy last year (DH & I made appointments together, isn't that romantic?). I was surprised what a big deal it *isn't*. Even the prep wasn't so bad: just keep magazines on hand to read while you're "purging."

She is lucky to have a caring niece like you! By praying for her & asking others to join you, you are doing the best, most helpful thing you could for her at this time.

Thanks so much. I was mistaken, she just went to meet the surgeon the other day, he didn't do biopsy. Biopsy will be Tuesday. But he's sure it's cancer, on the bright side it looks to be encapsulated and he doesn't think lymph nodes are involved so may just do a lumpectomy. I'll keep you posted.

She's taking it well - says dr is very cute. Just my luck - when I had to have 2 (noncancerous - 1 fibroid & 1 fatty right on top of each other) tumors removed from right side when I was 30, I had an old man. She's 60-something and gets a cute young surgeon LOL!

Aunt had MRI yesterday, needle biopsy(ies) today. The surgeon says it's definitely cancer, going to do lumpectomy on the 13th. We'll see after that but prognosis is good, it *is* encapsulated.

Glad to read they think it's encapsulated.
How long before the biopsy comes back? Waiting on that is going to be hard. We had to wait through 2 needle biopsies before the cancer diagnosis.
