It depends. If the trellis is open on both sides (easy access from either side) then it shouldn't matter. If however, you only have access from one side, then it needs to be wide enough for your hand to fit through, WHILE holding your harvest! But, as bomber said,strength is the MOST important factor.

Yes I think you are right it is not big enough to make alot of heat. but so what? it is making compost and very quickly it seems. if you are mostly using veg scraps and UCGs you will not have to worry much about weed seeds. if you are weeding the garden and the weeds have gone to seed then you will have to worry about that. perhaps just discard those items. but even if you toss in a weed and it has not gone to seed yet it will be ok. seems your system is working well. laurie

I have 36 inch range and love it. Even with a big Paella pan, as long as it is centered on the burner, it can hang over the next platform. With 48 inch 6 burner range you have 15 inch platforms, and even though I frequently cook for 20-30 people, I don't need 15 inch platforms. I can easily fit 3 14 inch skillets on my Wolf 36 inch range-front left,back center and front right if I had a mind to. I have also had the Dacor range with 4 11 inch and 2 15 inch platforms and did not see any real benefits to the 15 inch platforms The best thing if you have questions about what fits on the range you are considering is try pans the size you will be using and see how they work. If you have the real estate for a 48 inch range, if I didn't want the grill then I would go with 8 burners and get an overlay griddle. There are those who like the dedicated griddle on this board though.

Its true larger tile has the potential to crack more easily but people have used 12 x 12 in large areas like kitchens, etc and its not that common if the underneath area is properly prepared. Larger tile has less grout lines and some people prefer this as less possibility of grout problems. Besides those considerations, the style is now to use 12 x 12 tile on floors not 6 x 6.
