Looking for info on a sliding backsplash that conceals appliances

My pet peeve in kitchens is trying to conceal all the increasing numbers of counter top appliances, and still having them in a convenient position to use them... Blenders, mixers, Cuisinarts, coffee grinders, crock pots, counter top grilles, toasters etc. where to put them when you use them everyday?

Recently I've seen backsplashes that are sliding doors that conceal space behind the upper cabinets. The space is like an appliance garage but without the tambour roll up door.

From SieMatic Beaux Arts Collection the backsplashes roll from side to side. Another cabinet company displayed a marble backsplash that slides up to reveal the open space for stuff at a New York Decorator Showhouse.

My kitchen remodeling budget will be fairly modest, but I'd still like to build in this neat feature. Anyone have ideas about hardware or components available to make this happen?
