I took a piece of 1/2 inch wide elastic and measured across to the straps about 8-10 inches and pinned it about 2inches up from the bottom on each stap so it stretces across my back . I have to put the bra on (closed of course) over my head but it keeps the straps from falling I've bought a strap like this but it didn't close right my homemade ones are better in otherwords it looks like a big H in the back

I got one of those things too! It works great and I love mine. I have to hook it to the bra and then put the bra on. I got mine to wear with tank tops and sleeveless blouses. Best $5.00 I have ever spent on TV item. I got mine at the Dollar General.

pattico - I call that kind of bra "front loaders".
Have yet to find a front loader that I don't "spill" out of. LOL

I hote those "front loaders". I have an incision from breast bone to pubic bone and the front loaders dig in to the scar and is very uncomfortable. I have 5 of the darn things and hate them. I would get rid of them but I spent a lot of money on them.

I'm curious in these responses. My bra straps always seem to fall down too. I looked at one in the store and the little plastic piece seemed so hard I was worried it would irritate my back. I have some racerback bras, but would love to "fix" my other ones.

If your bra straps are falling down you are wearing the wrong size. Take the time to get properly measured. My friend Colleen is the fit guru (not sure of her exact title) for Victoria's Secret. She helps them get the proper measurements when a bra is being designed. Niney percent of women are wearing the wrong size.

Unfortunately this is no longer a problem for me. Over the years my 36DD's have worn grooves in my shoulders. Not pretty.

Sometimes boatneck dresses and tops have little 'loops with a snap' to keep bra straps out of sight.

So, what does it mean when only one bra strap keeps falling? I have adjusted the straps to no avail. My right strap always falls.

My mother always made my brother take a shoe string off of his shoes to keep my bathing suit up. Will that work for you?

No matter what size I've had they always fall down I think it is narrow shoulders anyway I haven't seen any minimizers that are "Front loading" wish I could I like minimizers they don't push you out 5 inches in front of everything else

Donna, it means your bra is not fitting you properly. This can happen because of it being the wrong size, not being well made (fashion over function), or just worn out. I would guess from your right strap issue that your right gal is a tad bigger than your left gal (which is also very common).

The rule is that the band and cups should provide about 90% of the support; if the straps are doing too much of the work, they stretch out and start to slip.

A few years ago, I went to an old fashioned bra fitting shop and got myself measured. I was buying the wrong size, both band and cup. After I started buying bras in the correct size, I found I had much less issues with bra straps falling.

I have narrow shoulders, whatever you call it. Straps fall off. Even those should bag purses, never could use one, as they fell off my shoulders

Went to fabric store and bought a narrow strip of velcro. Cut two to wrap around the strap about an inch wide. Did the trick. Put one where it rests on top of your shoulder.

I also wear bras with stretchable straps.

I HAVE been properly fitted! Just narrow shoulders.

well ladies,Ive had a breast reduction, went from 40F to really unknown..Ive gone to measurers twice if not 3 times..everytime they would give me a measurement and I would try on that size bra it would either be to big or to small..I got so frustrated that I just stopped wearing them for a long time, I would wear the cami with the built-in bra those are so comfortable, but I would have to wear the bra strap genie..whats a woman to do

Far be it from me, a mere male, to offer suggestions re padding for situations involving bras ...

... but, that said, I imagine you've tried adding a bit of padding to the structure on either side of where it crosses the scar so that, if there is contact, it's only minimal. If not, do you think that there may be a way of reducing your discomfort by following such a path?

Good wishes not for just uplifting thoughts ... but actions that hold things in life where they should be.

P.S. I was in favour of adding an improved (or newer) elastic waistband - but the wiseacres on the KT said that realism indicated that I should replace the whole thing(s) (upwards of a dozen)

I've heard that if your straps slip, it's because you're wearing the wrong size, but I don't believe that's true all the time. As others have said, I have narrow, sloped shoulders. I can't wear a shoulder bag, either, because it won't stay up. I've also gone to the best bra store in our area and been fitted, yet the straps on the bras I bought there didn't stay up any better than any others.

I have the same problem with the straps. My solution came from hancock with the strap that goes from one strap to the other. Have to admit, its not fun trying to get bra on when I use the strap. Now this may be more information than you need, I went to a bra fitting. First let me tell you, I am 5 feet tall and weigh between 105 and 107 on a given day. This was not a pretty site. She had me in this band that felt like a metal chain , and I will not go into detail. Thought I didn't have any fat on my body. I looked in the mirror and you would have thought I weighed 207, it was cutting into my skin. I ask could I go up a band size, She said oh no, that would not fit properly. I wear lots of my hand knit sweaters, so I knew for sure I could not wear my hand knits with all that fat flapping in the wind. I have watched many of the fitters on what not to wear, and they always seem to help the ladies find a fit that doesn't choke them to death.

I always buy bras with stretchy straps. I have a narrow back and sloping shoulders.

Right now my favorite bra is Bali model #3820.

I meets all my requirements...substantial stretch straps, a triple hook back to eliminate back fat roll,and seamless but sturdy enough silky cups to hold my middle aged B/C girls in place without underwires (which I never understood the purpose of since the under wire just sits in the crease anyway).
