Replacement of Heating and Cooling System

I have Rheem 15 year old furnace and a John Zinc 30 year old cooling system. 15 years ago, the installer placed the Rheem furnace on the base of the old Zinc furnace so he would not have to touch the A coils. Now the base is rusted out and water pours out over the utility room and probably down the plenum as well. I am thinking about replacing the cooling system with a Rheem R-22 system. Should I go ahead and replace the 15 year old Rheem furnace with a 90+ Rheem furnace, or just have the 15 old year Rheem furnace reset on a new A coil base?

Another consideration is that the furnace is in the utility room which is connected to the rest of the house, no door, so it uses inside heated air for combustion. Does such a set up use a lot of heated air making heating bills significantly higher?

If I change out every thing, another option is all Trane.
