I would mount the telly on an articulating arm underneath the upper cabinet closest to the dining table. Most likely you will need to attach it to a stud. Hopefully you could make the edge of the telly flush with the end of the cabinet/counter. Using an arm will allow you to pivot the telly toward the DR table, the island or the sink. And then you can fold it flat against the wall for a more streamline look when not in use. With this arrangement, you might have to move the radio/speakers. As mentioned by another commenter/s, I would love to see a general breakdown of cost. Lovely kitchen. Enjoy it in good health!

I am also posting this separately at the top of the forum, I don't want anyone nice enough to comment to not see this. For... Suzyqt The TV is a 19" Philips HD LCD. Very nice pic, even with only a coaxial connection it picks up whatever HD the cable co sends for free (major networks). I did not want a huge cable box in the kitchen. It does not have a DVD player. We did consider that, but had to be careful of the height of the TV. With the 42" cabs, and trim above and below, it JUST fits under the cabs. The blurring in the photo of my slideshow is the deficiency of the camera, not the TV. For JennyCT Hope you see this. We are so thrilled with the tile. We were originally going with a glass tile backsplash, but we are so thrilled with this tile. It's really nice. Everyone comments on it when they see the kitchen for the first time. The company that makes the tile is Italian. Company is called Ceramiche Gardenia Orchidea. The line of tile is I Cotti, the color is Ocra (as in yellow ochre). Though I wouldn't call it yellow at all. More of a tan with reds and golds? We bought it at a tile place in Wappingers Falls, NY called Best Tile. We saw it on their website, and went and bought it. You can go to the tilemakers website and fill out a form to find a dealer near you, or maybe or local tile place can just order it anyway. High ranch, bi-level, raised ranch. same thing. Ranch house plunked on top of a high foundation to give two levels. Usually built in the side of a hill to give a walk out basement. I never heard of one either until I moved up here from the city. Mine has cathedral ceiling in the living room and clerestorey windows up high, it looks a little more interesting from the outside, but at heart its still just a hi-ranch. To maydl and nomorebluekitchen The DeWils cabinets are GORGEOUS. I went in interested in quarter-sawn oak, and the cabinet shop owner kept going on about this DeWils company he had just seen their products at a trade show and was going to carry them. We bought the cabs on the faith of a mini-sample of a cabinet (like a kid's playhouse size). We switched to cherry (along with alot of other changes along the way). I love them. They look like custom made fine furniture. Which I guess is what they really are. A lot of things included that you have to pay extra for with other cabinet companies. To evaperconti I moved up here from Queens and my kids make fun of me, because I still moo at the cows, point at the bunnys, woodchucks, deer, etc. You never get used to it. this is a gorgeous kitchen! More on India ink as stain: I've used it on furniture a lot. Be SURE you get permanent India ink. It has some shellac in it to make it more waterproof. It has amazing coverage. I have done an entire armchair frame with only an ounce or two. It's also very messy if you drip it, so wear old clothes and get some disposable latex gloves. It may raise the grain on some woods. Sand the wood smooth before applying it, then do a very light sanding after it's completely dry, if it feels at all rough. Apply a second coat if the sanding removes any of the color. The color is a warm black. It's opaque but the grain of the wood will show through, unlike with paint. It's a pretty unique finish. I have never used Waterlox over my ink finishes, since they were furniture. I think you do need something though--the finish doesn't seem to be super permanent even though the ink is labeled permanent. (That's more for when it's used on paper, not furniture or counters that get a lot of wear and tear.) I used beeswax on the furniture which seemed to seal the ink pretty well. I don't think I would use it on wooden chair seats, though. Too much risk of rubbing off on clothing down the road.
