Three separate heat pumps or a zoned system

I want to put Carrier's Infinity system in my new construction home. My installer proposes three different heat pumps for a 3000 SF (plus a finished basement) house: 2 ton (basement), 4 ton (ground floor), and 2 ton (upstairs). Another installer told me I would probably be happier with a zoned system for the ground floor and upstairs, then a second system for the basement.

The second option makes more sense to me, because I don't like the idea of the ground floor and upstairs system accidentally working against each other (even though unlikely). The great room on the ground floor is two stories tall and the stairway is open. So the upstairs and ground floor are very connected. The house is in Kentucky.

I don't know if there would be a lot of cost savings going with the two systmes, but three systems seems like overkill to me. I would appreciate some advice from the forum.

Thanks in advance.
