Teambrogdon's Finished Kitchen - Thanks!

Hi!

Thanks to all who knowingly or not so knowingly helped us!

In our 1977 house, we opened up several walls between the kitchen and dining room/family rooms. We also took over half of our existing garage and rebuilt the garage farther back on the lot. We reconfigured the entire kitchen area swapping the main kitchen and breakfast areas. We added a side "friends" entrance (since no one ever uses our front door Â people would just come through our messy garage). We changed the laundry room into an office/project room and turned the part of the garage we took over into a mud room and laundry room.

We are still waiting on a few finishing details - note the missing freezer door panel :)

FLOOR: White Oak finished in MinWax English Chestnut

CABINETS: Custom Â maple painted and stained

Paint color - Ralph Lauren Mother of Pearl with rub through

BAR FRIDGE: Avanti Under Counter Beverage Center

FARM SINK: Franke 25 in. Fireclay

PREP SINK FAUCET: Mico Seashore

MAIN SINK FAUCET: Kohler Vinnatta

SINK PENDANT: Firefarm

TABLE CHANDELIER: Potterybarn

BARSTOOLS: Pier One

thank you for the kind words! lulumon I posted you 2 answers on discussion side. lwb9 thanks, I LOVE my Gemini. I don't think the bottom stove is too low at all. Just make sure you get that sliding rack it slides so easily all the way out. I think the rack is standard. It a great feature! To be honest I only use the bigger oven when I'm having company or making say a turkey breast. There is very few things that won't fit in the smaller oven. I love that they canboth work at different temps and functions. I think it's the best appliance we have ever bought!

Thanks Sparklekitty - It was a lot of work and the backspalsh was probably our toughest decisons. Thank you for the kind words. I love, love the dishwasher and I would advise for anyone reading this...I know it is not cheap but trust us...get it..it is amazing. I can't hear it a bit and the dishea come so clean! Also I forget who posted the discount at Sears for Kitchenaid dishwashers but I really wanna thank you because you saved us tons of money!!!! Chris45ny - hahahhaa...I was searching for the towel pig...you knew what I was going for!!! I love it....both you guessing it and the cow! The cow is really cute for me and I am happy with my towel cow! Thanks rjr20 - Those stairs were such a pain...now they seem so nicely integrated....Thanks! Thanks Vamipressrn - hahahaha....love the black and tan both in the kitchen and in the fridge ;) Thanks bmorepanic - It has been all due to the ideas from all of you! Thanks Therese - We did not want to go with the standard round knobs so it took some time and can you believe that everyone told me that maybe we should color that corner pantry same as cabinets or even white....I held my ground ..hehehe..so thanks for the support! Thanks Tarab - that has to be the best praise for our hard work....DH agrees!!! It means a lot..thank you Thanks flwrs_n_co - Surprisingly those windows are just painted over...just a fresh coat of paint :) hahaha...the kitchen has already been an excuse for probably a few bottles of wine....

Thanks everyone for your kind words. The granite is called Lapidus. We purchased it, the subway and the 1" square glass back splash from Ideal Tile in NJ. The floor tile is Magica Royal Rossa from Avalon tile in NJ. Chairs are Charleston Forge. I swore never to buy wrought iron chairs, but these are remarkably comfortable. The Spanish fruit basket tiles on the back splash and the table were both found on ebay. We were told the table is mango wood reclaimed from an old floor. If you're willing to take the risk, ebay may be a source for good deals. The hardware, faucets, air switch are all from ebay. All the lighting -even under counter halogens- were also ebay items from Sea Gull Lighting. Believe it not the Medallion St. Andrews Oyster Vintage cabinets; also from ebay! A Medallion dealer had a number of new-in-boxes cabinets that we bought as a complete lot. We sold the extras and had to buy several cabinets from a local dealer.

Hi Again, CEFreeman - yes, the white tall cabinets are pantries. I love them - especially all of the pull out - shelving. The cabinet closest to the far wall is a broom closet which is also great to have in the kitchen. romy718 - yes - good eyes! The crackled tiles are beveled. Skyangel23 - So, I'm not sure if this is technically a filler - but the cabinet base is a bit wider at the corners to allow for the cabinets and drawers to open successfully. Don't think they are quite 3 inches and I think the way that my Cabinet company designed and installed (I know it wasn't easy) the additional spacing is really not noticeable. Everything opens easily, obviously drawers and cabinets need to be closed before the adjacent cabinet can be opened but I have not found it to be an issue at all and I appreciate how well the awkward space was used.

Fabulous. I particularly like the architectural elements, the arched granite backsplash behind the cooktop repeating the arch of your passthrough and your "friends" door. What a lovely name for a back door. Bravo!!!

What a beautiful remodel! I love everything about it. You have such wonderful taste. It's so open, bright, warm and inviting. How do you like your Giallo Ornamentale granite? Any staining or etching problems? It's one we're considering.

karenforroses - We haven't had any problems at all with staining or etching on our gallo ornamental - it is great. You can not see any dirt/crumbs on it - sometimes I have to rub my hand along it to make sure I got it clean. I love it. We did seal it when it as installed.

Love your ceilings! Is that 4x8 sheets of beaded board paneling trimmed out and painted gloss white? Gorgeous! Where did you get the product? Thanks for sharing!

Thanks. They are actually individual tongue and groove bead board planks. I think my contractor got them at the lumber yard. They are painted Duron Shell White in semi-gloss.

I love your kitchen and layout. Quick question: I am thinking of ordering the Amana panel ready fridge and noticed that you placed custom handles. The salesperson told me that we couldn't change the handles. How did you do it? Or maybe you could provide me with the model number. That would be very much appreciated.
