Have U Been to Denmark?

I'm talking allergy medicine and I kept nodding off last night watching television. But, in one of my Waking Moments I saw a report that Denmark has the Happiest People in the World.

They have dreary weather and high taxes, yet they are happy. Because of the high taxes the Government provides Medical Needs and takes care of the Elderly.

Most Danish have cars, but they choose to ride bicycles to and from work.

There isn't a big difference in pay scale for a Carpenter and a Physician. In fact, the Price works as a Carpenter. Everyone seems to work at what interests them the most.

I watched that program as well on 20/20 last night and when it was over I googled the outfit that did the study called Blue Zones. That had a link to the ABC news site featuring the tv show clips and viewer responses which were quite interesting.
I just googled " list of happy countries" and there are even more studies showing totally different outcomes.

So I'd take that whole thing with a grain of salt LOL

I would hate to think that if I spent alllll those years to become a doctor that I would get the same pay as a carpenter....lol

Or that a doctor only had to spend the same amount of time to learn to become a doctor that it took to learn carpentering....

Thanks for the help Neils! I am so sorry, long day and I wrote about our roots and forgot to thank you! Brighid, I have never been to that part, but I hear it is really pretty! I love visiting the castles and museums in Denmark, I do remember Rosenborg in the summer. I seem to remember a yellow rose that was along some of the roads etc. Mom was so happy making apple butter and remembering helping her mom and grandma making from their crab apples. She says they were yellow like lemons. I figured the one I found in Paso Robles-CA should be close. We have vinca major growing because she remembers having it at the farm. I would like to do a grape arbor, the farm was named after it's grapevine (vintreagaard) I like plants that have a history or bring back good memories.

Deedles, I really like the placement of your prep sink. I think it gives you two great areas to prep next to it. I bet you'll end up prepping on the peninsula most of the time and the placement of the sink gives you a nice big area. I like it. I've gotta agree with the visual of the arch over the fridge not really working. I'd square it off so it fits with the rest of the cabinets. Your kitchen is going to be set up a lot like mine. I have a major traffic pattern through mine too. The fridge is in the traffic pattern, while my work area is on the other side of the kitchen. My prep sink makes a nice triangle between the fridge and the microwave and I love it. I find traffic tends to stay completely out of my way while I'm cooking and they stay in that zone between the prep sink, fridge and microwave. With what you've described, and from what I see of your space, I think you'll spend most of your time in the u of your kitchen while traffic stays outside. I really like that part of your plan. This is going to be a great kitchen to work in.

I forgot to mention, I plan to see the rest of them someday. Countries: Mexico (Nogales only), Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland, Italy, Turkey, Isreal, Spain, think that's it...all done when I was in the Air Force.

Try haggis and black puddling - learn what they are the day after eating them! Smoked salmon is wonderful in Scotland. All fish is good in Ireland and Scotland as both are surrounded by water. For desserts, try spotted dick and clootie dumplings - both are melt in your mouth heavenly. Carry a large purse and in it have a collapsable umbrella. It will most likely rain a bit every day. If it doesn't, consider yourself lucky. Pack clothes so that you can add and shed layers. I've spent alot of time in Scotland - Glasgow is a pretty modern city now. Much of the older architecture has been replaced by new buildings. Both my sisters will be at the Tattoo this year, too...I'm envious of you all! If you have any free time in Glasgow, head to the Willow Tearooms at 217 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow. It's a teamroom/restaurant designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and it opened for business in October 1903. The tearooms were extremely popular, and are the most famous of the many Glasgow tearooms that opened in the late 19th and early 20th century. His architecture and design is my favorite in the world. You see that is the irony...everyone works at what they really, really want to do. Following their passion.

If you want to be a Doctor, and that is your calling, or your fullfillment....money isn't the motivation. You have a desire to heal the sick.

Many people in the U.S. choose a occupation simply because of the "income" they perceive the will make.

My Brother had a very natural God Given Talent in Music. But, everyone thought He was a "Bum", because He barely made a living. But, when I saw Him on stage, I would get a tear in my eye just seeing the "joy" that He got from music.

Can you honestly say you have followed your dream?

Yes...but I didn't do anything...LOL...was just a wife and mom....didn't want to work and didn't. I got to spend my free time crafting or whatever I wanted...that gave me a lot of joy. So yes...I got to do what I wanted.

Then you did what you wanted to do. Be a Mommy! That is great!

I don't believe a Housewife and Mom does nothing.
I was privileged enough to do that far several years too! And I felt Blessed!
